"I first met Tony, owner of Nexxus Remodeling, soon after his lead hardwood flooring installer had come to check out my home so they could send me an estimate. My project was to rip out all carpet in my upstairs, and on the stairs from the 1st floor. Even before I had received all bids I’d sought from him and other contractors, Tony found out the floor I’d intended to buy was out of stock. He arranged for me to go to a showroom that has the best inventory and selection I’d seen in my search, and he met me there to personally assist me to find flooring I liked just as well as my first choice. I was soon able to determine that Tony’s bid was very comprehensive and reasonable, but his efforts to help me before even being hired had impressed me just as much. If you want to hire a contractor who will go to extreme lengths to ensure you end up a totally satisfied customer, Tony. He said from the beginning that he wouldn’t consider my flooring project completed until I felt that every detail had been attended to, and he meant it! Tony personally checks in frequently to monitor the project. His crew does it all (carpet removal and disposal; installation of hardwood flooring, moldings and risers; carpentry; removal and replacement of doors and furniture; and, clean up after each days work). Not only that but they removed a washer and dryer that had konked out, and brought them downstairs onto my patio, AND then they cleaned out a laundry area that had at least 25 years worth of lint and dust built up in it. I sincerely recommend Nexxus Remodeling for your next home renovation project - not just for hardwood installation (they do it all!)."

"I knew I would probably need to replace the dishwasher and I got the confirmation I needed.  A misunderstanding arose concerning whether I would be charged one fee for a review of both appliances or two fees. They agreed to honor what I understood from a telephone conversation that only one fee would cover both."

"Larry is the consummate pro. He's like the Holmes on Holmes of appliance repair. My most recent job (I have used him for 3 years) is the first time he was stumped by one of my appliances. The first solution he thought would work didn't, but then he was at the ready, ordering the correct parts as quickly as possible (My oven is older and harder to get parts for on the fly) and even offering to cover the costs of the first round of parts since they weren't the correct solution. He got it fixed in time for Holiday Entertaining and did it with a smile and a "Merry Christmas".
This is the guy you want coming to your home and fixing what's wrong. He won't make you fix something that isn't broken, he will tell you if it makes more sense to buy something new instead of profiting from fixing your clunker, and if it takes a little longer or comes at an unusual time, he doesn't jack up his prices.
Larry's the best.

"Very satisfied. We replaced 2 doors from the garage to the back yard with 2 pre-hung steel doors. Just getting the old doors out was a project (removing trim, stucco around the doors etc. Installing the new doors was even more exacting to get everything square and just right and then to patch everything back up so that the work will be basically invisible (we’re just starting on the priming/painting ourselves). John has so much experience and is skilled at just about every kind of repair or installation around the house that you could imagine. He’s patient and intent on doing a high quality job. He’ll be the one we call when we need more work done."

"My home is a 2 story single family detached structure built in 1946. The old galvanized water supply lines had been replaced in 1996 with copper. The existing master bath had one sink, one shower, a separate tub and toilet.
The new master bath now has two sinks on the same wall as the one original sink. Two shower-heads and one wand with three valves are now located in the same general shower location but on different walls. One large soak tub is installed in roughly the same location as the old tub. The toilet has been moved 13 feet into its own separate toilet room off the master bath. A gas line has been run to a bedroom direct vent gas fireplace.
I purchased the tub and shower valves, tub spout, shower-heads, sink faucets, shower drain, tub drain and sink drains. I also purchased all the fixtures.
I obtained three estimates for this plumbing job. The old bathroom was completely demolished down to the studs before the plumbers came in for estimates. Relocating the toilet was by far the item that caused the most concern among all the plumbers. For the whole job one estimate was $11,895 and the next estimate was $9,850. I verified that the Southland $7078.50 price included everything the others had included as in cast iron toilet drain for a quiet toilet flush, copper lines and proper vents. Southland plumbing also included help in setting the tub and connection of the tub drain in their price and the most expensive contractor did not include setting the tub in place and connecting it!
Southland plumbers arrived on time each day and worked quickly. I was coordinating my own sub-contractors and these guys made my life easy by having a crew available to be there on the days I needed them. They also put up with the questions I asked regarding slope and size of the new toilet line as well as sizing the gas-line to the fireplace. There were no extras charged.
The showers do not fluctuate in pressure or temperature when the toilet flushes. There is good pressure when both showers are running. The toilet drain running in the den ceiling downstairs cannot be heard when the toilet is flushed.

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Mar-vista, CA

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
