"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

"Bormann Brothers did a great job on our roof replacement. No high pressure sales with them and they use top quality shingles. We liked that they had their own crew and didn't use subcontractors. They did everything in about 6 hours on our house, and cleaned up well afterward. We did have some nails in our gutters that I found afterward, and I let Nick, the owner, know and he came over same day and cleaned them up. Great service and they are an honest, no sales pressure roofing company."

"Rachel was extremely helpful with the process of replacing our roof. From insurance questions to tile selection, she was there. We had to wait until after winter to have the work done but Rachel was good about staying in touch with us. Her project manager discovered more damage than the insurance adjuster found. They fixed the leak and told us not to worry as they would contact the insurance company. The roofers themselves were a credit to their profession. They were courteous, hard-working, and thorough. They left our property debris free. I highly recommend this company."

"Roofing was fine, but when I called because of a leak 3 months after the warentee period, I was told the rate per roofer was $185 for the first hour and $98 per hour after that. No flexibility or willingness to work with me at all. The leak was not new just newly discovered. Does not matter. Legally they may be right but this attitude is not what customer service I want to have in my life. They will not get additional work from me."

"I'm quite pleased with the work. I inquired about adding gutters to my 1880s duplex. A gutter contractor I had spoken with previously said he wouldn't be able to add gutters to my home because the roof fascia lacked a flat mounting surface for gutters. Ricky took a look and told me they could add wedge mounting points and make the gutters work. They quoted a fair price and I asked them to go ahead with the work. Their two-man crew took care of the work of installing seamless aluminum gutters in one afternoon. The work looks professional and is functional, and the gutters match my existing soffit/fascia. However, upon closer examination one of the downspouts drained a little close to the foundation for my liking. I was considering just adding a flexible tube from Home Depot to direct the water further away, but then someone from the company followed up unprompted to ask how the work was. I mentioned my issue, and within a couple of weeks they had sent a guy out to add an extension to the aluminum downspout to direct the water a safe distance away. That took the experience from an A- to a definite A. Will call again if I need additional roofing or gutter work."

"This is the second time we hired J & B Roofing to work on our house. We had 35 year old deteriorated Masonite lap siding. The old siding was removed, a layer of insulation was installed, along with Tyvek House Wrap under the new siding. J & B Roofing supplied many color samples for us to select from. Our house has brick on the lower 1/3 of the front. We had J & B Roofing install vinyl siding that has the appearance of hand split shakes above the bricks to the soffit. We installed vinyl dutch lap siding on the sides and back of the house. The gable ends of the house & garage had the dutch lap installed at the same angle as the roof line. Ever challenge we presented to J & B Roofing was met with the response, "WE CAN DO IT". When the job was completed, once again the entire area was cleaned up of all debris. Whenever we need any repairs, they will be our first call to see if what we need done, they are able to do. We are very satisfied with them and highly recommend their services."
