"This is actually my second time working with The Rug Shoppe. I purchased some ceramic tile from them a year earlier for a job a did myself. The reason I bring that up now, is because when I came back a year later, Liz the sales associate that I worked with a year earlier, immediately remembered me, my name, my wife's name, and even that I had two cats. She is really the reason that we went with the Rug Shoppe for our carpet purchase as she is a delight to work with. As we were looking for carpet, Liz was great in helping us find stain resistant carpets that are good for households with pets. I did get quotes from other locations, and The Rug Shoppe did not come in as the lowest, however when I told this to Liz, she worked hard to get me a price that matched the lowest bid I received elsewhere. They showed up to do the work on time. They moved my furniture, removed the old carpet, installed the new carpet, and put the furniture back in place all in one day. All in all, I'm very pleased with the job."

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"My husband and I interviewed 3 places for new carpet for 2 master bedrooms and closets (786 sq. ft.). The prices at all 3 were comparable, but we chose Flooring America because the salesman, Steve Railsback, was personable, professional, very helpful, knowledgeable, and very willing to answer all my questions. The carpet arrived within a week and the carpet was installed on the day of our choice. Steve told me that it would take 1 to 1-/2 days to install, but that he would try to make sure that they could get it accomplished in 1 day, if at all possible. The installers arrived at 10:05 AM on installation day and finished the first master bedroom and corresponding closet and left at 2:35 PM. 4-1/2 hours. They arrived the next day at 10:05 AM and completed the second master bedroom and corresponding closet (slightly smaller room with less furniture to move) and left at 1:05 PM. 3 hours. So the job took a total of 7-1/2 hours but they turned it into a 2-day job. Positives: The carpet looks great. The crew was very careful when moving furniture to make sure that the furniture wasn’t harmed and that if it was necessary to take things off the walls, they let us know. I was very appreciative of how that portion of the installation was handled. But… Negatives: (1) They did not clean up after themselves very thoroughly either day. They were actually in the driveway loading the van on day 2 when my husband made them come back and clean up and even then they did a poor job. (2) They parked on the grass without asking. (3) They drove over the grass. (4) They drove off the driveway onto decorative stone severely rutting it. (5) They left 3 fairly large oil stains on our driveway. I asked my husband if I should call and make them come back and clean the driveway and even out the stone since it will take him hours to clean up after them and his response was “I don’t ever want them here again!” He’s very laid back and doesn’t often get angry, but he’s angry now. (6) On day one, Bob asked if he could use the bathroom within a half hour of arrival. I said yes. I shouldn’t have. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I could not go near that portion of the house for over 2 hours because the smell was so bad that I was gagging. In over 45 years of owning a home, I have never had that happen with any other contractor. It was so disgusting! So, if you want a pleasant sales experience and good carpet at a fair price, FA is the place. If you are going to have it installed, go somewhere else!"

"Nanfer and his crew were meticulous in their work.  They were always on time and excellent at cleaning the areas of the home since we had to live in the house during the renovations.  They worked with us to choose the right colors and even accompanied us to the granite warehouse to find the right pieces.  Our tile is so straight  and even, it almost looks like a commercial job for a large company.  Any question we had, they answered and worked with us to meet our greatest satisfaction.  The finished job is phenomenal.  Not only did Nanfer and his crew do a wonderful job, we have become family friends since the install.  We are very picky and they never once complained.  We definitely felt like we got the BEST job at a reasonable price.  And best of all, we get SO many compliments about our home!  Nanfer is also great at coming back if you need him to repair something or add something.  From other vendors we have used, we know this does not always happen when you have work done at your home.  We would highly recommend KJ Natural Stone, because they make the remodel fun and worry free! <br />"

"I hate having to leave a less than excellent review but I so appreciate the time people take to share their experiences, good, bad, and average on Angie's List. I just joined so I didn't check out this company before using them. I will begin by saying that the water mitigation dept. of CRC was excellent in responsiveness. We had a hot water pipe burst at 3 am above my closet on the second floor. We were awakened by a large picture hitting the floor as it fell from a saturated wall. We quickly turned off the water and put buckets under the dripping ceilings. We called our insurance company the next morning and our agent recommended CRC. We called and they were onsite within the hour (about 8:30am). It was almost too much to believe because there were probably 7-8 guys ripping out the ceiling and moldings and installing huge dehumidifiers, floor mats, and fans. It broke my heart to see my crown molding and wainscoting ripped out and hacked up- what a waste! They said it had to be done to prevent mold, but that they would be sure to replace it just like it was and I had no reason at that time not to believe them. The project manager was very reassuring and explained everything in detail. He spoke with our insurance company and for some reason they were given the go ahead to do the estimate for the reconstruction instead of an adjustor. OK, big red flags should have gone up but they assured me this happens all the time. Their estimator came at the end of the next week. We walked carefully around and pointed out each of the damaged areas. The estimator assured me repeatedly that the work would be done right and we would be pleased and it was guaranteed for three years. After several days my insurance company called and said the estimate was too high so they would need to have an adjustor come out after all. Why they didn't  send an adjustor to start with is beyond me. All the insurance adjustor did was basically confirm that the CRC quote was good although we found several areas where the CRC estimator had made mistakes (like carpet replacement for $0.62/sq ft in one bedroom and $3.43/sq ft. in another room for the same carpet). Obviously the adjustor didn't go over the CRC quote carefully. So after that, CRC never contacted us again. I called and was told the structural project manager would be in touch to schedule the work to be done. They even left a lockbox on our door so they could access our house when needed. It is now October and we still have not heard from them. We contacted the water mitigation project manager to ask him to please come get the lockbox. At least he responded. He removed it without knocking (or maybe I wasn't home). He was a really nice guy but the other part of the company he works for is not up to his standard. So, be aware- CRC- great for water mitigation but don't count on them to follow up with repairs. I rated them a C because unfortunately I think this is an average experience when it comes to dealing with home repair. What a shame. No wonder there are so many DIYer's. <br />"

"Great! They explained everything to us. There were no surprises with the end cost. Our house is also on a slab so that helped (no additional leveling needed). They let us take home a few sample books. We ended up getting LVP. We will probably use them again for the stairs and upstairs carpeting replacement"

"Assessed the situation and called us to make a few decisions. Pulled cove base, moved bookcases and shelving, and mopped and brought huge air dryers for the areas, as there is no through air circulation. Later I think they sprayed with a pet-friendly  mildewcide. We didn't need to replace any of the linoleum! <br /> They also checked the downspouts and found one had gotten clogged on the uphill side of the house, which may have contributed to the problem. <br /> After we got back, they came and moved everything back in place and took out the styrofoam risers that the unmovable furniture was resting on. <br /> We followed their recommendation to install a french drain along the entire back wall of the house, that is in the hill, and a sump pump. We've never had water problems since. <br /> And they trusted us to handle payment when we returned, which was 10 days later!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Marion, NC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
