"We recently purchased a new hot tub and asked Waibel to come out and give us a quote on the price of the work. We would need a new 50 amp line run from our panel in the basement to our outside patio on the opposite side of the house. Chuck was quick to come out that same week and take a look at our situation. He explained the work that would be involved and gave us a quote. We had another electrician come out and give a quote and theirs was $800 higher than Waibel’s–so we hired Waibel. The ice storm that came through in February prevented Waibel from completing the job on the initial day they said they would come out, but Chuck was able to reschedule me for less than a week later. The two electricians that came out were very diligent and friendly and completed the work quickly and to my satisfaction. My area was left very clean and they even replaced the drywall that they had cut out to make it easier for me to patch. I would definitely use Waibel again for other electrical work."

Small jobs welcome

"I recently received a job offer that required me to move across the country, so I needed to get my house ready to sell in a very short period of time and needed a panel upgrade. Breeze Electric worked with me to get the job done quickly, efficiently, and in a manner that my wallet certainly appreciated, especially since I was getting ready to move 5 states away. I truly appreciate how easy the process was."

Customers say: Quality work

"We had a tough job with 'out of the ordinary' conditions. He had to add another panel and correct the issues in the existing panel. The electrician was persistant, staying until the job was finished the same day. The price was very reasonable and stayed within the quoted price. Very knowledgeable and professional but friendly. We want them back soon to give us a quote on building a 3 season room."

"Had Matt run new wire for a big addition and hook everything up. He was easy to work with, communicative, and fast. Very talented for a young guy. I was nervous about some potential complications but once we turned everything on, zero issues"

"I had an estimate done on some electric work, and James Pinson did an excellent job. He was very thorough, clear with his suggestions, and the pricing was very competitive. Based on James's visit and the estimate he provided, I chose Mr. Electric to complete the work."

"Had an emergency situation with home electrical service being out and randomly contacted D and H Customer service was fantastic. They were at the home within a half hour and diagnosed the problem quickly. They also stated that the repair could be done the same day which was great since the temperature in the house was 49 degrees without power and furnace. They provided an estimate and once approved, they went right to work to obtain the components needed for complete replacement of service into the house from the utility drop down. Included new weather head, wiring, conduit, meter box, electrical panel and breakers. The work was completed within a few hours. The price sent us into sticker shock when we saw it, but told them to proceed anyways since we did not have time to see if anyone else would come out on an emergency basis and also have the repair done the same day. Bottom line: Even though the price is believed to be high, (granted, we had nothing to compare it to), we were happy with the quick response, the friendliness of the electricians and the quality of work. If your need is not an emergency, I would recommend a couple of other estimates for comparison. They did do a nice job though."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Marion, OH

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
