"Came up for xmas holiday in mid November and had new wood floors installed at that time upstairs. Established business relationship with H&S, largely because of 5 star rating with Angi's list and a number of very positive reviews. Met with the H&S owner Humberto Segura, (H) who impressed my wife and I as a very polite and responsible young man. We had to return to AZ so H&S had unsupervised access to our place. All interaction between us was done over the phone or text and he kept me updated with a few photos and videos. Over approximately a 10 day period, H said they were done with the job with exception of 3 doors, which he was to paint and stain at his shop in Carson City. Those doors were finally delived and installed back at ny residence on 3/27/2026. Humberto was anxious to get the balance due after the interior painting was completed in mid January. I told H that photos and videos were helpful to ensuring the job was completed to satisfaction, but that I needed to see the finished job for myself in detail. The photos and videos he shared were from a distance and not possible to see things in detail. Humberto reassured me that he would promptly correct anything that needed his follow up attention. With that understanding, I paid H in full. He still was to complete staining and repainting our 3 doors. Humberto said that he would "absolutely" meet with me on 3/27 to bring back the stain and painted doors do a walk through of his completed work in our townhome. By this time, I had some concerns over H's reliability to follow thru with his promised commitments on promised dates. When I arrived at my townhome on 3/25/2026 I got my first reality check of the absolutely terrible job that H&S had done. Very obvious and glaring issues which H had to be aware of when he told me the job was completed as promised. I immediately sent sample photos to H and said it was important that we meet on Friday, March 27th as he agreed to. He texted me saying not to worry and that "everything would be made right". At the date and time of our meeting, Humberto let me know that he was not going to be able to personally meet with me due to family matters but that he was sending two men from his crew with my doors and they would be sure to take care of all outstanding issues. I let H know that his "no show" was unacceptable since he was the person I established this business relationship with and, particularly, since the issues were so extensive. He knew that I was flying up specifically to meet with him. While he consistently assured me that he would be definitely meet with me as planned, he was, in fact a "no show". From that point on H was inaccessible to me via phone or text. 2 H&S men delivered and installed 2 of 4 doors. The lead person said that they were instructed to do what they could to correct any issues with the paint job at my home. He agreed that H needed to be here to understand the extent of the isdues, which would likely take days to correct. He would walkl off with his phone and would be able to reach H. When I asked to speak directly with H, I was told that H had hung up and told him that he did not want to talk to me. The two fellas that were supposed to help correct the many issues that needed attention, siddenly left without completing the work needed in reinstalling my doors. They said they needed to buy some hinge screws to mount one of my doors and said they were going to the nearest hardware store. They left and never came back. My last unanswered text to H was that his crew suddenly left. I also stated that if he did not show up to address the many repair issues with his job performance that I would file a complaint with Angi' List and consider legal action. The following is to summarize the outstanding issues with H&S. All of which existed at the time that H told me the job was successfully completed and for which he sought final payment: Multiple incidents of obvious paint on my new flooring due to trim drips, painted boot prints, spillage, dirt and debris hroughout entire upstairs area, serious overspray from efforts to paint iron stair rail, multiple large drip marks on metal railing, multiple and clearly visible incidents of missed area where they failed to paint on walls and trim, missing cover plates and screws, many area were simply overlooked and unpainted. Bottom line assessment is H&S delivered very shoddy work at all levels that will reqire many hours or expense on my part to have fixed by another contractor. The responsibility is fully on Humberto who intentionally allowed inferior workmanship and then decieved me into thinking the job was done to full satisfaction, as originally discussed. He futher abused this business relationship by assuring me that he would fulfill 1 year warranty contract to me to correct any outstanding issues that may exist. He peddled quality and a follow up commitment to fix any outstanding issues. In fact he delived a terrible paint job and a total failure to respond to any outstanding issues. His commitment to follow up support is a total fraud. This is the worst case of bait and switch that I have ever been exposed to!! H&S and Bssed on my experience. I can only conclude that Humberto Segura is a fraud and a scam artist who markets "quality" but delivers "crap", and makes no effort to fix the problems he creates."

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Markleeville, CA

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
