"I needed to replace my front brick steps from Brick to Concrete. We have been running into loose bricks, pretty much after each winter, to the extent that I was concerned about safety of visitors (my brother-in-law fell on a loose brick). Chris and crew showed up on time (like 1 min early!). And they did a great job taking all the bricks out and pouring concrete instead to give us a peace of mind and a good looking concrete steps. Throughout the process, Chris explained to me what is going on in detail and answered all my questions. I probably asked him the same question a few times and he patiently answered my questions. Chris is a master mason with specialty in concrete. He knows what he is doing and does it well. He is humorous, generous and a gentleman. Chris (personally) spent a lot of time power washing other areas of my pavers even though that was not part of the deal. I offered to pay him for it but he refused and said "I just want the place to look gorgeous when I leave. I highly recommend Chris and his team for any concrete / cement work."

"A warning about this concrete company. When we did business with them their company name was Madewell Concrete. Theyâ ve now changed to Concrete Driveway Company. At first everything looked good. During the summer we noticed a crack that goes completely from one side to the other. I contacted the company and was told they would honor the 10 year warranty and was sent an online claim form. I completed the claim form and submitted it 9/11/24. I promptly received a confirmation. We were told to expect a response within 14 business days. We waited until 10/4 and called. Were told the â production managerâ would contact us. Never heard from anyone. Called again 10/14. Told weâ d get an email from â Schedulingâ . No email info yet! Weâ ve been patient, but now think we are being put off because they donâ t intend to do anything about our problem. We want others to know about this company and their warranty practices. Donâ t fall for their sales pitch. Itâ s obviously worth nothing. Makes me think that maybe this is why they felt the need to change their company name. ð ¤"

"Of several firms contacted for an estimate, owner Ron Diersing was the only one who gave me a firm estimate, as well as a detailed explanation of what he would do.  he gave me a courtesy call the night before the job and 30 minutes before arriving.  Despite 98 degree heat and a job site that required hauling in buckets of cement by hand, Ron and his brother finished in 1 day, with a few touch-ups the following morning.

I am over-the-moon happy with the porch pad replacement.  It looks great, drains water away from the house, and evens out what was a jarring step from the house and to the back steps.  And they did minimal damage to the surrounding garden.

I was slightly less happy with the low retaining wall across the front of the property, mostly because it was poured on top of  the sidewalk rather than the yard, as I'd requested.  And also because it did not have permanent drainage holes built in. (When he stopped by the following morning, Ron drilled several holes at the base of the wall for drainage.)  To be fair, we did not discuss the wall in as much detail, and I did not come out and check the forms as they were setting them up, which could have headed off the problem.

When Ron gave me the estimate, we discussed the broken curb and he eplained the difference between patching and replacing the curb, and I said I would probably have it patched at a later date.  Altho' it was not part of the original estimate, at the end of the day he patched the worst spots at no extra charge.

Overall, I was happy with the job, the price and the overall experience."

"First, I'll say that Justin did a great job on my floor, and it looks wonderful.  However, he and I got off on the wrong foot when he failed to show up for the first appointment.  I called after an hour, and he said he had been on another job that took longer than he thought it would and had forgotten to bring my telephone number.  We reset the appointment, and Justin showed up on time.  We agreed on a date quite a bit in the future because of his busy schedule and my travel plans.  When we returned from our trip, since a couple of months had passed, I e-mailed Justin to remind him of the date we had agreed on, as my husband and I had to remove all furniture from the kitchen and didn't want to do it if Justin had to change the date.  Justin did not respond to my e-mail so after a few hours I telephoned him and left a message.  The following morning, he returned the call and was at our house at the time he said he would arrive.
He and his assistant put on a first coat, then returned later in the day for a second coat.  They were efficient and cleaned up everything well, and as I said, the floor looks great.  I wouldn't hesitate to call Hoyt Surface Solutions again, but Justin needs to improve his responding to and communicating with customers.  That is why I marked him down on responsiveness and punctuality. Those things are just as important as doing a good job on the technical details.
