"Handyland is my go to whenever I need work done. I've hired them I believe 7 times now and they have never let me down or done less than an amazing project for us every time. They actually alway do extra just to put their touch on itn. Dwayne is my favorite contractor out of all I have hired in my 40 years of remodeling. The young man is joyful to be around every day wise beyond his years. He even allows my children to "help" and teaches them something that will actually be useful to them. Even though I know they are being a pain, he never lets on and always tells them please and thank you. Which is rarer than rarer than rare these days, and he always takes the time to ask if we need anything whether on the way or leaving to get something. A+++++ We dont hire anyone but Handyland around the house. They are the cheapest but when you've been doing this as long as I have, you learn very quickly that you mostly will get what you pay for"

"The provider left the project unfinished. Promised to return, but never did. When he ended on a friday, he demanded cash. Would not accept a check. Never provided a receipt, although 1 waa promised. I had to go to my bank and withdraw cash. 50% of what he was to do is undone. Mortar iwas ground out & not replaced w/new mortar as his quote said he would do. He added an extra 500.00 just to fill in a crack along my front step. Used brown hydraulic cement which he claimed would blend into the gray concrete. It never did blend-still brown. I ptovided the colored mortar and the sand. When l asked for credit for providing it, he got angry & belligerent. Since, then he promised to return to finish the job. This was in October. He was a no-show at that time. He had promised, prior to starting my job, he would attach a tarp and a sheet of plywood to protect a new, front pella picture window l had installed recently. He assured me this would protect the window while his helper was grinding/removing the old mortar along the windowsill. He didn't do this. When l questioned it while his helper was grinding, l was told, then, it wasn't necessary. Later l found the wndow frame was chipped & scratched from that grinding. So overall, my project did not go well. The business very profoundly failed to meet my expectations. Since then, he has made the false claims to the BBB that l was rude to him, and more importantly, that l never paid him. Both claims are totally false. Illustrates the importance of getting a receipt for payment, which S&S failed to provide."

"We hired Vision Home Exteriors to do some siding and window repair. It was a small job and I was concerned we would not be a high priority. However, Ty was very responsive and got us scheduled right away and finished the job in a couple of days. Work looks good. Overall the communication and coordination with Vision was excellentâ ¦very professional. Would recommend them."

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Mason, OH

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
