"The rep came and measured the floors and came up much higher than our figures. We received the estimate and the dollars did not add up. We called and questioned the math. The next estimate was substantially lower and the figures closely matched our own measurements. <br /> The installation went well. The hardwood installer did a fantastic job with matching the existing floor and trimming the edges. We are extremely happy with the hardwood floor. <br /> The carpet installation was done by a different crew. It went as expected. The installer did a nice job carpeting the stairs and trimming out the hallway doors. <br /> Even with the reduced estimate on the second invoice we had extra boxes of the hardwood that we were able to return for a credit. <br />"

"Gary Bockrath did an AMAZING job. The folds are gone and we can not see or feel any seams. He was timely, professional, friendly and did high quality work. The carpet is older but we were not ready to replace so this was the perfect solution. Great price for how long and hard he worked. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR CARPET REPAIR!!"

"Amazingly well! We had a previous contractor who had attempted to install the flooring but ran out of materials and did a terrible job at best. The team from Step Above truly take their craft personally and make sure they provide true quality not just in their workmanship but also the products they carry (and do not carry). Highly recommend and will definitely use them again, true lifesavers! <br />"

"Excel provided excellent service from promptly contacting me to schedule an estimate after a message from Angie's so list was sent, to being on time to do the job to the job itself.  Greg explained why the carpet had stretched the way it did so soon after it was installed.  I waited almost four years to have the carpet stretched after it began to buckle.  After the service was provided you can't tell there was ever a problem.  I would definitely recommend Excel Carpet Services. <br />"

"They were super helpful in picking out the right product and color for our basement remodel. The installation went smoothly and looks great. We will definitely be going back when we need carpet for the upstairs."

"I was trying to cram a carpet cleaning session in before hosting a Christmas party. I reached out on a Monday for service that week. They apologized but were not able to get me on the calendar. They were very responsive and I did not have to wait long to hear back which was great considering I was on a time crunch. I will reach out to them in the future. Thanks!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Mason, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
