"<p>We spent a great amount of time researching roofing contractors and received 4 quotes.  After extensive research, we selected Hollingsworth Roofing.  Thankfully, it turned out to be the right decision.  Other than a mix-up about the hip and ridge shingles (shingles delivered and installed not the same as in the contract), everything about Hollingsworth was excellent.</p> <p>From the business approach of Craig Hollingsworth, to the excellent responsiveness of Becky in the office, to the quality of the work, things could not have gone better.  The quality of work was very good, the crew obviously cared about doing the job right and the clean-up afterwards was excellent.</p> <p>These days, it is nice to hire someone who does what they said they would do, without having to chase them.  I would definitely use Hollingsworth Roofing again.  If you are going to have roof work done, you should definitely include them in your process.</p> <br />"

"Mike arrived right on time to examine the roof. When he finished he said the roof was in good shape with just a little bit of hail evidence. It was his opinion that it didn't need any repairs. I appreciate the honesty and will definitely use them in the future for our roofing needs."

"David the owner of Resilience Roofing had great and top quality communication skills. From start to finish he was very thorough at explaining the insurance claim process and even met with us and our agent when the claim was written up. We had hail damage and David made getting the roof replaced easy. His roofing crew cared about their job and you could tell. They did a great job protecting our plants and garden with plywood when they did the roof so nothing got damaged. Cleanup was excellent too as they went around cleaning up the yard and area as best as possible. Would love to work with again someday! Thanks so much!"

"We purchased a 6 year old home with major roofing issues. Eason Roofing was hired to completely replace the existing aphalt shingles and metal roofing. To our amazement, the owner Frank Eason personally supervised the project each and every day. Cleanup daily was outstanding. Frank Eason's extensive experience came to light, as he examined and remedied all possible trouble spots on the roof. He personally took charge of the metal roofing and did the work himself. The new roof looks amazing and gives us peace of mind, since the job includes an extended warranty. My research also showed that Eason is a certified GAF Installer. Eason is my trusted source for all our roofing needs."

"They came in, worked with the insurance company (hail damage) to replace the roof, upgrade the ventilation system and replaced the damaged gutters. They repaired the damaged inside walls. They were able to complete the roof in one day and a partial day for the inside walls. They cleaned up before they left, even using a rolling magnet to get all of the lost nails in the yard. We only had to pay the deductable. I highly recommend them to anyone worried about their roofs."

"Our roof is only a few years old, but the company that installed it has gone out of business.  So when our roof started leaking we looked on Angie's list to find someone who could fix it.  Doug from Lanier roofing called us back and came out to give us an estimate the very same day we initially called. He told us that they have an $850 minimum for jobs so most likely the work would be cheaper than that, but he was still willing to give us an estimate.  He spent time in our attic and outside inspecting the roof.  Told us what he suspected the problem was and that it would be much less than the $850 minimum they require. So although we did not use their services because the job was too small, we were impressed with their customer service and would consider them in the future.  Doug even called us back later to mention one other possibility that might be causing the leak.  We were impressed that he did this even though he knew we wouldn't be using their company this time. <br /> <br />"

"S&S has installed two roofs on separate homes for me. I am also waiting for a certain color of shingles for them to do the 3rd home. They did both homes in a timely manner, crew was professional and did a great job on both homes and also with the cleanup. They will be doing the 3rd house so you know they are good!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Charlotte, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
