"The breaker had flipped. But they did check my outlet and wiring to ensure everything was okay. Explained why it flipped and how many volts or currents certain outlets in my house would hold."

"We highly recommend U.S. Energy Solutions...Mom and dad had some unforeseen electrical issues that needed to be fixed in their kitchen due to an inspection review before selling their home. I went to Angie's List put in a request for suggestion and U.S. Energy Solutions got right back to me. We set up and appointment! Electrician was prompt, courteous, professional and friendly. He diagnosed the issue straight away, took the time to show us and explain the problem. His confident approach to the problem was reassuring and was fixed quickly! All the way around a great experience!!"

"Completely rewired whole house with romex wire. Several specific dedicated outlets installed for electronics in the house. Panel was reconfigured and mostly fixed so that everything ran on the outside box, not the old fuse box and inside panel. Only one or two things remain inside. Fuse box severed. Installed LED recessed lighting and afixed a junction box and T bar for a fan to be installed at a later date. We had a total of 4 new outlets entirely installed (I think). The lighting was all reorganized on the correct breaker, so no longer does half the kitchen connect to the living room. We had to keep our fridge off for the majority of the time, had to throw some food out, but we didn't have much food in there anyway. Our main technician's name was Parks. Very professional, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable. The times took much longer than expected and they rushed as much as they could, but it took many hours overboard to complete. 9am to 7 first day, 7:30am to 8:30PM, and 7:30 to almost 10 at night on the last night. Only two walls were damaged around the outlets and one baseboard molding was bored through. They were patched. I am readjusting the angle of most of the outlets as they are all slightly crooked and it is killing me. Overall very satisfied on the work complete and I only lost one outlet in the sunroom because of the wires being embedded in the brick wall and they couldn't get to it. The only thing that did truly frighten me is that the outlet we thought was completely fine in the brick flooring of the fireplace, they found out it wasn't and went ahead and started drilling into our brick. I was not notified and I was very concerned about the brick and mortar being affected. There are a few hairline cracks around the mortar and I haven't thoroughly inspected to see if anything is loose. But it took me a long time to calm down internally about it. The only other thing that somewhat bothers me is that we had a 1978 home and someone had installed old heater coils inside the walls of each room. We didn't want to mess with it (in case when we sell the new buyer wants to use it, we won't), and after everything was finished I found out they cut through a lot of the wiring so they could get to and put in the new wiring for all the outlets. So the heater knobs and system is no longer serviceable. Not sure how I feel about it or if we could have saved it. I did not ask, but I didn't mention ahead of time to save it either. Although had I known they were going to cut through it, I might have spoken up about it. Those are the only two things I wish we had been consulted about previously. The last thing is we have a yard light we would like checked out sometime later, it is very dim, and if it isn't the bulb itself, we may need to fix the wires in the post and the ones connecting it to the house. We had mentioned it, but the time had run out for them to really do anything. There was so much to be done in the house and it was mainly just our"

"The electrician from Star Power Electrical Contractors was absolutely amazing! When I first tried upgrading my own panel from a YouTube video, I got electrocuted and felt completely defeated. But then this guy shows up, friendly, professional and not an ounce of judgment. Hes the Planet fitness of electricians! Thankyou Star Power for turning my frown upside down!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Mauldin, SC

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
