"Got our project done quickly and on time when other asphalt companies thought the job was too small. One small concern was the spraying of tar over some of the dirt and grass instead of getting the drive completely cleaned. Overall the project looks great!"

"They did a good job of re-sealing my driveway but they left numerous black asphalt sealant shoe prints from their shoes on my lawn and in addition left a long pieces of past asphalt sealant in the grass. The asphalt shoe prints will likely kill my grass in those areas. This was very disappointing because when I have used their services in the past there were not these problems. But I sincerely doubt I will use their services in the future."

"Quotes requested from 3 Angie's List contractors with 2 very quick responses. Allied's quote was the lower by about 16% (and both quote specifications were identical). Communication with Allied was excellent and the job progressed as scheduled. Timeline: one day to remove the old driveway and a second day to prep and install the new asphalt paving. Very neat job, good cleanup and no paving spilled over onto adjacent lawn, sidewalks or garage concrete floor. No damage to irrigation heads located very close to the driveway (it probably didn't hurt that I flagged those heads before demo and installation). The result is a very nice, appropriately graded driveway with a crack and pothole-free surface. <br />"

"One screw type pier installed. 2 workers hand dug hole below bottom of foundation. Cleaned out under foundation for platform. Although foundation was deeper than I thought, the hole was done much better and quicker than I envisioned. Pier was screwed at bottom of hole with a hydraulic motor. Once limit on hydraulic pressure was reached, the pier was cut at proper level, platform installed, and cracked section of foundation was raised with a hydraulic jack. Crack in stonework closed up nicely without going too far and creating additional cracks. Workers had 5 and 15 years experience doing this work. Very professional and did a very nice job every step of the way. Note that I (homeowner) chose to move and reinstall landscaping stones and gutter drain. Also, tuckpointing/repairing the cracks was not included in the quote. I plan to do that myself at a later date."

"Gary and his crew tore out my old asphalt driveway and concrete sidewalks leading to the front and side doors of my home and replaced them with new, high-quality concrete. He is meticulous in his work. His preparation of the site was excellent. He made sure that I was satisfied with how the forms looked before he poured concrete. He did a beautiful job. He is a true craftsman in working with concrete. His crew was hardworking and easy to work with. My next door neighbor was so impressed that he hired Gary to put in a new driveway and sidewalk. Gary's bid was not the lowest bid, but it was competitive with the other bids that I received."

"The crew showed when they were scheduled and removed my old driveway. They were careful about my sprinkler heads. When the new driveway was installed they partially covered a sprinkler head. When I called, the salesman came right out to fix it. That night, it rained and in the morning, I discovered a large puddle in the middle of the driveway. I called and within 2 days a crew was back out to fix it. Unfortunately, the patch is obvious. Also, a second sprinkler head got in the way of the patch. <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Maumee, OH

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
