"When I first talked with him, I explained that my floors were comprised of different woods and I was worried about the colors being different. He assured me this would not happen. When he sanded the floors, the color was consistent throughout the house. Once he applied the polyurethane, I told him that I didn't like it because the original wood colors were coming through. He had done a small section at this point. He said that once it dried, it would all be uniform. Of course, this was not the case. We had to stay in a hotel for two days, incurring extra costs. When I arrived home, I was so disappointed. Not only were my floors all different colors, but there were globs of polyurethane in a few spots. There are several spots where the sanding is very noticeable. He did not protect my furniture by putting plastic on it until I asked him to, which was after the first day, and the dust was ridiculous. It seems to me he should have known to prep the area before he started working. He came unprepared twice and needed to leave to get supplies, which took many hours away from his work time. He left all of his garbage on my front lawn and didn't clean up after himself before he left. I was forced to clean up all of the dust, which I did not appreciate at all. He said he did areas he did not do. I called him immediately to express my dissatisfaction, and he came to the house to discuss this. He agreed that his work was not what was expected at all, and I requested half of my money back. He offered to give me $1,000, which I didn't think was fair, because I now have to pay someone to fix his work. He asked me for the chance to redo the job, and I agreed to allow him to make it right. I have called him three times, and each time, his mailbox is full. I have left several text messages, which he is ignoring. Due to his inability to return my calls, I am not comfortable with him coming back to fix his job. He charged me top dollar for substandard work. I have learned that $8.00 a square foot is the high end of this work, and his work does not justify this price tag. I am still willing to allow him to keep $4,000, which I believe is more than fair. I would like $4,000back so I can pay someone else to get the job done. I am sorry I used your agency to find someone. I thought your suggestions would be good contractors, but not this time. My floors look worse than they did before he did the work."
