"Fast response to inquiry. Flat rate fee and was able to schedule the work within 7-10 days. The installer was on time, finished on time and was very professional. Site was left clean and tidy. Retesting after 5 days had reduced the radon to below 2. The install worked great and as they warranted it would."

"A and R Environmental was recommended to us by friends who have a construction business. They did not disappoint! <br /> Jordan came out to install a radon air system in the house we were in the process of purchasing. He was right on time and was very kind and professional. He determined where the best place for the system would be so it would not be intrusive and would be inconspicuous. He worked very diligently in order to finish without taking up a lot of our time. He did a beautiful job. Once it was done he set up a radon test and came back a few days later in order to check to make sure the system was working properly, which it was. <br /> We had a choice of several companies to use, most of which were less expensive, but we decided to go with A and R because of their good reputation, warranty, and professionalism. We highly recommend them. <br />"

"I called for a system and they were able to schedule me very quickly. The person scheduling my appointment was extremely pleasant and friendly. The technician, David, was very professional and knowledgeable about the system. He arrived at the time he said he would and got to work right away.  He worked quickly and the finished product was superb. He estimated 3-4 hours but was able to complete the job much quicker. When he was done, he gave me an overview of the system as well as a new radon test kit.  S.W.A.T. had the least expensive quota and I was so impressed with the work they did, I had another system installed in another one of my property's the next week. I would recommend this company to anyone with a Radon problem. <br /> <br />"

"This was the 4th home that Rob Amaral has inspected for me and I can't imagine using anyone else. Based on his reports, I have purchased 3 of the 4 homes he has inspected. While he may be a little more expensive than other inspectors, you are paying for his expertise, and it is worth every penny! My most recent purchase was an older multi-family home and because of all the issues he found I was able to negotiate $50,000 off of the sales price. While that is probably an extreme example, on the other 3 houses I was able to negotiate $5,000 off of another multi-family, feel confident in my purchase of a foreclosure condo, and walk away from another potential multi-family purchase that would have been a disaster. He's one of the few tradespeople that I feel confident recommending and I give his name to everyone I know that is purchasing a house. He is knowledgeable, thorough, and gives you the history on certain housing materials and construction techniques, giving you a better understanding of the home you are purchasing. I really cannot say enough good things about him, he's fantastic!"

"Kevin Morrison is a classy, honest, punctual, responsive and a very thorough professional. I had him help me inspect a home I am planning to buy and was extremely pleased with his work. He answered emails, texts, and phone calls was very patient, showed 5 mins before the job start, came back on the weekend to install radon kit and back on Monday to collect it. Very respectful of people's properties and personable. He is a straight shooter and never tells you what you want to hear, but rather what you need to know. I will definitely hire Kevin for any home related work that he would be willing to do and recommend him confidently for home buying inspection."

"We live in a townhouse condominium and are not allowed to make any modifications on the exterior, which is frankly, the easiest way for a radon mitigation company to do their job quickly. No problem at all! The owner John came to our home to do the evaluation and provide an estimate. He’s been doing this since the 90’s and knows his stuff! It was easy peasy and we booked our work for a couple weeks out. The technician, Bryan (who's also been doing this since the 90's!), arrived promptly at 8am, as scheduled and set to work. He was very professional and patient with me, a DIYer with a ton of questions. His work is impeccable. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect and was very nervous about the whole thing, especially since he had to go through several floors inside a couple of closets and my new hardwood floors. He was so accurate and efficient that I actually didn’t know he’d gone through the floors and ceiling until I saw the holes. They were neat, no jagged edges, no damage to the floors or ceiling. I was shocked – in the most positive way. I can’t recommend this company highly enough. I’ll use them for any home I ever have and recommend them to everyone I know!"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Medfield, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
