We had a fairly major project where a retaining wall had to be completely demolished and rebuilt from scratch, as well as a brick stairway reconstructed. It was explained how the stairway reconstruction could be either more or less expensive depending on factors that would only become apparent as the existing stairway was taken apart. We were given both a best case and worst case scenario for how long that part of the project would take, as well as the costs. At every point in the project, we were informed as to the conditions that had to be repaired. The work required ended up being in the midpoint of the range we were given, as well as the price. None of it was cheap, but we got excellent service."
