"Forest Park Stucco did an amazing job getting the work done around multiple rain days. They were prompt and polite, very professional! The work is beautiful and there is no sign of where repairs were made. There was some new work that had to match the look of the rest of the 110 year old house and they did it seamlessly. I would recommend them to everyone who really cares about the end product. I work in the construction industry myself and can tell you this kind of quality in stucco work is hard to find! Great warranty too."

"Fortune Restoration did carpentry, masonry, and external painting on our 100-year-old brick and stucco tudor-style house. Besides being polite and taking care to clean up daily, the workers were so diligent and focused on the details. It was a big job that included repairing and/or replacing and rotted or damaged wood, resealing an exterior wood patio ceiling, spot tuck pointing the entire exterior of the 3 story home, and then finally painting the window surrounds and all wood and stucco on the house and the garage door and sheds. Fortune Restoration’s quality of work held up from start to finish. We could not be more happy with the results!"

"It's near impossible to find anyone in the far chicago suburbs to do work alone--let alone stucco work. When I came across Westlake Services it was like we came across a miracle. They helped us take down some arches that were falling apart and repair the stucco on our house. We had a few major cracks on the stucco and they were able to fix the cracks, and cover up the "giraffe spots" the original owner of the house from 1982 insisted on. They helped us bring our house up to a more modern look."

"Excellent painting of walls and repair of cracks in ceiling and one water damaged wall. Crew Georg and Toto very considerate and cleaned up after themselves. Very efficient. Some difficulty/misunderstanding about work to be done, but the owner made it right. I appreciate that very much. Thank you Castino!"

"Tim from Dynamic Colors gave us the confidence we needed that this exterior project would go very well from start to finish. Dealing with older cedar siding was new to us, but based on Tim's experience we knew right away he knew how to work with it. The powerwashing alone made quite a difference, then settlling on a new color to match a blend of the old shade of the cedar as well as the brick/mortar on the lower portion of the structure really tied it all together. Tim was prompt with communication all along the project, sending us pictures of diferent new shades of colors to consider to help us with our final decision. We even altered the shade when beginning the painting part of the project, and Tim handled that change like a true professional. I can't say enough about his patience and flexibility, it all turned out great, mostly due to his and his crew's care and workmanship. Painting an entire 2-story house with high peaks, gables and dormers has its challenges, yet Tim ad his crew handled it with confidence and ease. We're very happy with the results amd wouldn't hesitate recommending them or hiring them again.

FAQs for traditional stucco repair or partially replace projects in Melrose Park, IL

Minor stucco fixes—like sealing small cracks or adding fresh caulk—often wrap up in an hour or two. Larger jobs that call for cutting out damaged sections, installing new lath, and layering fresh stucco can stretch to three or four days because each coat needs time to cure. A pro removes loose material, cleans and dampens the area, applies a bonding agent, and builds up new layers, matching texture and restoring the wall’s weather shield.

Watch for a stucco surface that stays damp days after a storm, develops dark stains, or feels soft or spongy under light pressure. Inside, moisture rings, peeling paint, or soft drywall around windows point to the same issue. Any of these red flags mean water is trapped behind the siding, and it’s time to call a stucco pro before rot or mold sets in.

Give your stucco a once-over every spring and fall. Semiannual checks let you catch hairline cracks, stains, or damp spots before they snowball into pricey repairs. Keep a flashlight handy, look closely around windows and doors, and call a pro if you notice anything soft or discolored. Staying ahead of minor issues protects both your curb appeal and your home’s weather barrier.

A pro starts by scraping away loose material, then cleans and lightly wets the area so new stucco will stick. After brushing on a bonding agent, they build fresh layers, letting each coat cure before adding the next. The final step is matching the texture and color so the patch blends in and the wall regains full weather protection.

Think of repair as a patch: the pro fixes only the visible crack or hole. Remediation goes deeper—crews strip away the compromised stucco, correct the root problem (often water or mold), then rebuild the wall. If tests show structural rot or trapped moisture, remediation is the safer, longer-lasting route; otherwise, a straightforward repair often does the trick.
