"They responded promptly for the bid request. They offered options and recommendations. They took full responsibility including arranging for an upgraded gas meter. They were very good at communicating at each step along the way. They were responsive to our scheduling needs. They did exactly what they said they would do. The electrician was very conscience and thoughtful in his approach. They explained the operations very clearly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a generator."

"We contacted them and they repaired the hole and also put in a drain tile.  There was a question about whether there was another source of water leak and they came back to test the integrity of our foundation and found that everything was ok.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Sometimes there was a delay in getting a call back from them and a delay in having them come to do the work.  When they did come, the work was done well."

"He was recommended to me by my coworker. He does an excellent job; I like him. He has done quite a few things for me. He has installed several doors. He even installed an over-the-stove microwave for me. He also did some electrical outlets. He does residential and commercial remodeling and repairs. I think the installation of the entryway system will cost me about $400. I would recommend him because he is excellent at everything he does. If it is something that he doesn’t do himself, he has a network of people with lots of expertise. He is very professional, very meticulous, and very detailed-oriented. So, if he does something, it will be done right. He is not cheap, but he is reasonable. I will use him again in the future."

"The service person John arrived on time and I showed him the drawing of how I wanted the water treatment units installed. (I had prepurchased the appliances and chemical injector and some of the needed hardware ahead of time.) <br /> I explained that the appliances were all set up and programmed and I needed him to set up the one inch copper sweat fittings and modify the existing pipe to accommodate the new appliances. I explained that there had been a slow dripping leak near the union fitting by the pressure tank. <br /> John wasted no time getting set up and proceeded with the job. when the new pipe and connections where complete he addressed the union connection. He disassembled it and cleaned the mating surfaces and re-assembled it. I had mentioned the greenish-blue color left on the floor by the leak, an questioned the ajacent copper sweat fitting. <br /> Water pressure was applied to most of the new set up and everything appeared okay. John gathered his tools and prepared the bill. <br /> I was charged $25.00 trip charge, 4 hours labor, and $90.50 in misc. hardware. <br /> I then proceeded to do a required 2 hour backwash on the new iron filter and start the clean up of the work area. When the walls and floor where dried and vacuumed I noticed the union connection area still had a slow drip. The following morning a new wet spot appeared on the floor. It was coming from a connection where copper pipe is threaded to a pvc spin down filter. The spin down filter was in place before and John did not disconnect that connection, but did have to work ajacent to it when sweat fitting some new connections. <br /> I called the Kelly office the following day (Friday) and reported the leakes. She said she would advise John/his supervisor and some one would get back in touch. <br /> After waiting 12 days with no response I purchased the items I needed and repaired the leaks myself. I removed and re-sweated the elbow joint next to the union. I removed the spin down filter connection and found that excess heat had melted some of the teflon tape on the pvc threads. <br /> I know the leaks where not detectable to either of us on the first day when everything was wet in the work area, but I sure expected a better response from the company."

"The first unit was delivered in a timely manner. However, the carrier did not adhere to the shippers warnings about product fragility and the unit was received in a damaged state. The unit was sent back to Classic Copperworks for repair.  The repair was treated as a priority by Mr. Threadgill, who had the unit shipped back to me in three weeks. It arrived in good condition that time. <br /> Mr Threadgill was very helpful in providing support in order to finish our project. He even had a caulking product sent to us in order to help with flashing the unit. That meant alot. <br /> I am not a professional contractor, but was able to install the unit myself with his support. However, my profession does provide me the opportunity to serve the public and as such, I feel that I am more than qualified in commenting on good service. While Classic Copperworks may not be the cheapest provider of goods and services, they stand behind their product and provide great support. It requiress a "leap of faith" to order an expensive unit from an out-of-state provider with no prior mutual history, but I can attest to my complete satisfaction. <br /> WRS <br /> <br />"

FAQs for generator repair projects in Menomonie, WI

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
