"I worked all the details with Kevin through phone and email.  Kevin delivered on every detail we had agreed to.  Action Carpet made an initial visit to explain what they were going to do.  They then came in on the scheduled date.  Moved all furniture items, removed the old carpet, installed new carpet, installed door transitions, and moved all furniture items back to where they were.  Highly recommended!!! <br />"

"<p><br /></p> <p>Sullivan & Son is an outstanding company.  Rick Lawlor, their Sales Consultant, was excellent at guiding us through the carpet selection and installation process.  We absolutely recommend that you initially ask for him!  Their office staff provided great service and the two installers who did the work were exceptional in our opinion....very professional and pleasant in handling any questions we had during the installation.</p> <br />"

"Wonderful! They were very responsive and scheduled us just a few days after we contacted them. Arrived on time (early in fact!) and were very friendly and professional. Our tenant left quite a few stains on the new carpet, which we were concerned would hurt our ability to sell. Carpet Doctor did a beautiful job and we are hopeful that it will help us to sell now. Highly recommended!"

"We were thrilled with the service. The rugs look great, with the colors more vibrant than before. And John Balayan was incredibly service-oriented: helped to move the furniture when he removed the rugs, and put the furniture back in place when he and Jonathan returned them...even asking to make sure it was angled the way we wanted it!"

"The owner herself came out to measure and meet with me initially. I was very impressed with her professionalism! All the services we decided on cost as much as she had estimated, no surprises, and the carpets looked as good as they possibly could for 10-year-old white carpeting!"

"Excellent help up front, in helping us pick a carpet that would fit our needs, and match our interior. Both the estimator, and the installer were right on time, within minutes. An excellent installation by a very friendly, helpful installer. I would not hesitate to use them again."

"What a terrific experinfce from start to finish. Alex made two *well-loved* carpeted rooms look like they both had brand new carpet laid this morning. With a dog, and not-quite-potty-trained twins, this was no small feat. The price for both rooms was incredibly fair as well. We have asked Alex to come back tomorrow to clean the stone foyer that must have had about 40 years of traffic marks. He tried a small section to see what the end result will be, and with his magic, and it is going to completely bring our hallway into the 21st century. I would recomment Alix and CT Steamer to anyone! <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Meriden, CT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
