"The job was done very professionally.  Even though they were the highest of all my bids, I decided to go with them based on other work I've seen that they did.  I'm very pleased with the work they did.  The fence looks better now than when it was new 9 years ago and the gates the built work much better than the original ones.  I would highly recommend them to anyone and they were well worth the extra cost. <br />"

"Mr. Bennett did great work. He arrived quickly to give the estimate. Although his estimate was not the cheapest we had (also not the most expensive), we went with Mr. Bennett because he was responsive to phone calls, answered any concerns we had, and seemed all around knowledgeable and professional. We think we made a good choice. When weather or other obstacles out of his control appeared, he adapted well and got things done quickly. He also was very friendly, did not go over budget, and, most importantly, the final product looks great. <br />"

"The sales rep worked with us and the insurance and helped us better understand terms and such. On the day scheduled for work the crew arrived on time and worked hard and quickly. They knew what they were doing and cleaned up well after themselves including searching for nails. We needed some decking repair on the house and a metal strip and replacement support on the barn. All was done as specified. They even used spare shingles to repair the doghouse gratis! My husband has a degree in building maintenance so he knew how these thing should be done. We are completely satisfied and will use them againifneede"

"I am in the process of making a decision. Their bid was $17,000. My impression was good. He didn't give me a definite date on how long the estimate was good for. He is an excellent person and I felt very comfortable with him."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Mexia, TX

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
