"Jim and his crew are incredible. I requested a quote for a new paved driveway and Jim called me himself to explain the scope of work and pricing. He is very accommodating, responsive, transparent and it’s clear that he is very proud of the work they do. They are very skilled and experience and completed my project with ease. They pitched the driveway perfectly to direct all water away from my house. They got me on the schedule extremely quickly, showed up on time, and were very knowledgeable and professional. They treated my driveway as if it were their own and wanted everything to be perfect. It is clear that they are the best at what they do and I would recommend them to anyone looking for these services."

"It went very well, the owner and workers worked diligently to take out the entire old driveway, constructed new Belgium blocks, then paved the Asphalt black tops. the job is well done with nice finishing. I am very happy that I was hiring the right company to do the project."

"This review is long overdue. I contacted Sealpro Mahwah because I have seen their work in several driveways in the neighborhood. I can literally see why they are recommended. Their work looked very good on every driveway that i saw. I contacted the business and response time was very good. I spoke w Lou and he was upfront, honest and very nice. We discussed work that needed to be done- sealcoating and crack fills. We were able to negotiate the quote. I admit the quote was not the lowest of the three bids I received from companies BUT Lou seemed the most upfront of what we could expect. I was comfortable on price we landed on and very happy I went with SealPro. I have recommended to my neighbors and would use them again. Thank you to Lou, his crew and everybody at SealPro."

"John and his team did an outstanding job. They discussed the project in detail when providing an estimate, visiting the house twice, and accommodated some minor requests without a problem (e.g., replace some walkway stones with asphalt). They were in regular communication with me and scheduled the job quickly. On the day of paving, they regraded and made sure the driveway contours were good for drainage. They moved quickly once the asphalt began to flow, overlapping edges to prevent seams. Their machinery and equipment was new and state-of-the-art, producing a very uniform and smooth surface. John worked much of the machinery himself, while directing the rest of the crew. The crew was experienced and efficient, and worked the edges and tight spaces where the machine could not go. the finished result if outstanding - I am very pleased. I would highly recommend Howard Paving to anyone in need of asphalt work."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Middlesex, NJ

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
