"The installation ended up beautiful. I had tried to get Sean and Nick to make some alterations that might have helped me to cover some defects left by the siding guys. I'm glad I decided to let them do it the right way, the intake and exhaust disappeared into the joist space and it really looks so much better than if they had accommodated my idea, both inside and out. They arrived on time to the minute, and probably would have finished a little sooner, had I not been pestering them so much. Very professional work. Cardinal needs some praise for training their installers so well. I received duplicate letters from the Building Inspection Division, and have an appointment with them tomorrow. Their "window" for when they will arrive is between 9:00am and 3:00pm (6 hours they expect me to wait). The person who took the appointment gave me a hint, If I call again after 9:30 she'll be able to give me a shorter time frame for when the inspector will show up. I got conformation of my extended "

"We used Kegonsa Remodeling for a major kitchen renovation in a nearly 100-year-old house. Before the remodel everything in the kitchen looked cheap and worn down (think 1970s brown, everywhere!), and the overall arrangement of the space was really inefficient. They came in and proposed a design that was the best balance of affordability and ideal features out of half a dozen contractors we interviewed. Once we began working with them, they provided consistent updates and met with us on a regular basis, enough so that even with unavoidable pandemic slowdowns, it still felt like the project was always moving forward. Once the remodel began, they had nearly daily updates for us on what was coming next, and the project actually finished ahead of schedule! Now we have a kitchen that has at least 3x the workspace, a significantly improved flow, and easily twice as much storage as our previous one did. We get compliments all the time, and recommend Kegonsa's work any chance we get!"

"This is the 2nd time we've used AHS (Advanced Home Services). Monty is always very professional and efficient. He arrived this afternoon, took a look at the job and took care of it right away. Very professional, very personable and the price was more than fair! We will definitely use AHS again!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Middleton, WI

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
