"Mike actually installed carpet for me in July 2014. I'm on Angie's list now to get his number to do my upstairs! He worked with his son on the installation. Very professional and save me a ton of $ by cutting the carpet in such a way that I didn't have to buy a ton of waste (Empire carpet would not let me do that an insisted that I buy a ton of waste). I can't see any seams in the carpet and after 1 1/2years is still great."

"We employed Dry Step to clean our ducts, carpeting, and dryer vent/duct. All three were wonderful, and the price was lower than I had expected. We found them to be very conscientious, and they even went the “extra mile” - and then some! The owners, Laurie and Jim, were great. A first-class, family-owned company that we will recommend to our friends and family. Thank you, Laurie and Jim! Bob and Christine, Delaware, Ohio"

"David and Henry did a fantastic job restoring the beauty of our carpets. Our staircase carpeting is 20 years old, but you'd never know it after Henry finished working on it. Even the edges of the treads, which usually show the most wear, look practically like new. The two men also restored the brilliant colors of our 2 Oriental rugs. Throughout the process they were very polite and professional. We've hired Martin Carpet Cleaning before, and we'll hire them again. Price is right!"

"I had new carpet installed in my bedroom, small hallway and 2 sets of stairs. Bill Harian, my salesperson did an outstanding job of helping me pick out my carpet and measuring my spaces. The installers who were polite and professional did an excellent job with not only installing my carpet, but taking my bed apart, moving all of my furniture, and putting it all back together. The price was great and I love my new carpet! Thanks Bill and the installers!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Milledgeville, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
