"After my husband and I removed a wall to create and an open floor plan, Doug, the owner of DB Design Center, reconfigured our kitchen in a way that enabled us to add an impressive island, one that is much larger than what we thought could fit in the center of our kitchen. Doug also assisted us with selecting and designing our kitchen cabinets. In addition, we purchased our front door through DB Design Center, which is beautiful. My husband and I have received many compliments on both our kitchen and front entrance. Doug is professional, knowledgeable, and makes the process of large projects and purchases less stressful. My husband and I highly recommend visiting DB Design Center for any type of home remodeling projects and/or large purchases."

"Home Owner BEWARE --- I hired Mr. Handyman Wexford PA to do a few home fixes, they completed some but charged me for doors to be fixed when they never fixed them. I had to hire another contractor to do the job. I paid them for all work completed but not for the doors they never completed, they sent me to collections..... unreal. Do they want to be paid for job never done? Bad Business Practice. Be careful with these guys !!!"

"I recommend Heidenreich Custom Carpentry because he does excellent work for me, several projects including repair of the ceiling installing wainscoting, trail railing. He put custom molding above the ceiling all throughout the room. He painted everything which looks new now. He remove the old stair railings and installed a new ones for me. He did all the work and installed one light fixtures over my sink."

"I supposedly won their contest at the State College Home Show 2022 for $1200 certificate. Rep came out and knew nothing about giving me the prize I won. Should have seen this as red flag. Window and entry door replaced anyway. Like the window. BUT, the door has major air draft coming in down the side and across the bottom. Have been calling repeatedly for 2 months leaving multiple messages- no return call since back in October. Company sent me letter 11/30 and called me that evening trying to get me to hire them to do more work. Assured me they would send someone to correct problem with initial work. Still have not received phone call or service visit from anyone in this company. Don't enter their contests at Home shows- I think they use this as way to get into your home to sell you their company when you haven't really won anything. and don't hire them to do any work. They will not fix any problems!!"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Monaca, PA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
