"I had Eastern Waterproofing work on two houses, including our primary residence. Both jobs were done on time and were high quality. Jon and team were very professional and I was very happy with the work. I had a plumber tell me that the work was done very well."

"The Home & Hearth team recently remodeled our kitchen in our 1920s home and we couldn't be happier with the results. From the beginning, they were enthusiastic about the project and our vision. We wanted a more spacious and functional kitchen that also matched the charming aesthetics of our historic home. They were able to give us exactly what we had in mind (and more). They are incredibly professional, knowledgeable, organized and friendly - always open and transparent about cost and issues that arose. They were quick to find solutions to the inevitable remodeling hiccups and really cared about the quality of the work they were doing. We can't recommend them enough and plan on working with them again in the future for a bathroom remodel."

"Terrific. Kevin is great - the jobs took several full days & he worked fairly nonstop. Both he and his assistant are very personable and professional. I have enjoyed working with him over the years. His quotes were also far more reasonable than the other masons. He can be difficult to reach at times, perhaps bc he's in high demand!"

"Replaced my bulkhead had to return 3x to fix terrible install, hatchway is leaking worse then the old rusted one that was replaced. Had owner come out just to try and tell me the water flowing in was condensation which it clearly is not so now I have to have a reputable company come fix their hack job. Do not do business with this company they are crooks and don?t stand behind their work.."

"Addendum to my last review: When the septic pump failed, we discovered how many corners were cut. Instead of a septic pump, a sump pump (for rainwater) was installed with the 1½ inch pipe joined to a 2 inch pipe to make it look like it was supposed to. There was no coupler on the pipe leading to the distribution box, necessitating cutting the pipe to get the sump pump out. No check valve. Do NOT use this guy."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Monson, MA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
