"Our service person was Bill Fanning. He was excellent and explained everything in full detail! Bill was polite and respectful, and advised us on the best new sump pump to replace our non-working sump pump. "

"Connecticut Basement Systems prides themselves on their superior customer service, and they really live up to that. Their communication, quality of products and service, and attentiveness to customer needs is unsurpassed. Here are a couple of examples of how they go the extra mile for a satisfied customer: They installed their basement drainage system around my existing heating oil tank, but as I'm planning to convert away from oil this summer, they offered to come back AT NO EXTRA CHARGE once the tank is removed, to reroute the drainage system. Also, I was scheduled for a 3-day project, which included the replacement of some flooring in my basement. On the day the project began, we reconsidered the need for the flooring, and asked if we could cancel that portion of the job. They could not have been more accommodating to that adjustment, and made the change with no questions asked or negative attitude, even though it significantly lowered the price of the project and eliminated a whole day of scheduled work on 2-days' notice. That sort of total customer dedication is rare. I recommend them highly."

"<p>I noticed my water heater was leaking (slowly) on Sunday 4/3.  Small leaks usually turn into big leaks in a short time so I called Buttermore on Monday 4/4.  The owner, Keith, answered the phone and I gave him my information and basement configuration.  He said he needed to find a unit and then he could give me a quote.  He called back within an hour and had located a new heater and quoted me a price.  He said he could install it later that day.  Perfect!!</p> <p>He arrived when he said he would he and his partner had everything changed out in less then an hour-and-a-half.  He took away the old water heater and left me with a nice new one.  I was very happy with the quality of the new unit and the work they performed.</p> <p>As a side note, Keith was very professional and personable.  Being a technical type of person, but not wanting to be in the way, I asked questions when it seemed appropriate.  Keith was happy to answer them and never made me feel like I was in the way or that I was bothering him.</p> <p>The water heater itself was expensive....more so than most because it was the propane-fired type that requires a power vent.  At $1,800 I was not pleased but expected it to cost this much because I had gotten a quote from another contractor 6 months prior and it was in the ballpark by $100.  My displeasure with the price had nothing to do with Keith and his company.  He was right in line with the industry and with the quality of his work it was certainly worth it.</p> <p>I highly recommend Buttermore Plumbing and will use them in the future for my plumbing/water heating needs.</p>"

"The leak was repaired in a day! Justin was awesome at figuring out how to fix the leak that was in a very difficult place to reach. I couldn't be happier with the work. The job required that a wall, ceiling and tile be repaired which was all done in a timely manner and with excellent results. His team returned to install a vanity. Only complaint is communication with email is less than efficient. Had a toilet flushing mechanism that needed repaired as well and was communicated with information about the vanity. When called my husband to say the job was complete, he forgot to mention it so will take another trip to fix it which will probably cost a bit more for the time but will pay it because I know it will be done well. The do wonderful work, just communicate clearly by phone not email. Would highly recommend for quality work at a fair price."

"Most of the employees are very knowledgeable. they arrived promptly and pinpointed the problem. They were able to repair the problem and everything works well now. They also replaced our water heater a year ago and did a good job with that."

"I called their answering service and Jack called me back almost immediately. He explained that his schedule was backlogged and recommended I call a local competitor. After waiting almost a full day for the competitor to get back to me I wasn't comfortable working with them and called Jack back the next morning to explain my concern. Jack came over to the house within 10 minutes of my call walked me through his replacement recommendation and said he could get the work done later the same day. His team showed up as promised, removed the old system and installed a new tankless system. Work was completed as promised and the crew was courteous and did a great job cleaning up after they were done. Would not hesitate to recommend them. <br />"

"Ed responded to my home at 9:00 AM as promised. By now, I had 5 other waterproofing companies recommended by either Home Advisor or Angies List over for estimates and was fairly used to the routine. A big book carried by the salesman touting their particular organization on BBB, Home Advisor, Angie's List Google, Yelp, etc...Then an examination of the basement and in a few cases, the exterior of the house. Then came the "doom and gloom" part of the presentation... The majority of the salesmen would educate me on Hydro-static pressure and the danger it presented to my house. Evidently, we were living in a clay pot filled with water that was constantly apply pressure and attempting to enter my house through cracks in the foundation. I was also reminded of the constant rise in the "water table" in my area (Malverne). The only resolution to this dilemma was apparently to dig a perimeter ditch on the interior of my basement walls, install a "french drain" or some similar variation of plastic tubing with perforated holes, install a sump pump ( or 2) and seal in the drain with concrete. The damage to the "finished" basement would have been substantial and MY responsibility to make whole again! :( . Some variance in the pricing was based on the amount of perimeter suggested to be covered. From either the one wall where the water was coming in to the whole basement to prevent future occurrences... From $5000- $13,000. Again, NOT INCLUDING my cost to repair the damage to my sheet rock walls, baseboard and baseboard heating repairs... Add another $3-3500. Only one contractor suggested sealing the wall on the exterior which involved excavation , hydro-static cement to fill the cracks, Karnac tar, a membrane and a vapor barrier for $5,600. Enter Edward from E & M Waterproofing... No big book, 5 minutes in my basement and and a quick look outside. He informs me that I should dig out the dirt by the casement window approximately 20 inches down and back fill with gravel six inches from the sill. I also installed a new plastic shield above said window. I asked him about all the "doom and gloom" scenarios that I had already absorbed over the last week and he stated that since my leakage was event driven (Rain), he did not believe that I had water coming from underneath my house. The water table in my area HAD NOT risen and that the installation of "french drains" would be useless and ineffective in my case. The kicker was when he found my sewer trap and pointed out that I had "a hole in my foundation" where the pipe went into the ground. If my house was indeed taking on water, this would have been the first place I would have seen it!. It was dry as a bone. He also, gave me an estimate ($3,500 ) to seal the outside wall if necessary ( for my peace of mind, just in case). He did not charge for his advice and told me that he had 10 more estimates to complete knowing that he might only get 4-5 jobs due to his honesty. Needless to say, I followed his instructions that day (Mid-August) and have not had a drop of water since then. All in all, I would highly recommend E & M Waterproofing to anyone with any kind of water issues in their homes. I felt a little bit like Diogenes the Cynic until I met Edward, who has restored some of my faith in mankind... :)"

"How did it go?? I’ll tell you. You ever hire a contractor that never shows up on time or not ever?? Eric showed up 15 minutes ahead of time. Walked in went right to problem furnace and up the ladder with proper tools and replacement parts. Not a minute was wasted. Installed parts tested for gas leaks and then furnace flame adjusted everything completed job, cleaned up everything. So clean you would never know a contractor was on the job. He is absolutely the best!!"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Montville, CT

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
