"The man who came out to do the estimate and explain project was wonderful, he was on time had information and product samples to review, he completed the bid on the spot.  Then the calls and emails started, way too many explaining what Home Depot was doing and what would happen next.  Finally an appointment to install was established, I wanted the 2 hours they needed for the start of work window but nobody showed up or called, when I called they told me there was too much snow (no snow in Duluth).  The next appointment (again a 2 hours window) nobody showed up or called, this time when I called they said it was -24 degrees and the metal wouldn't bend (it was 0 in Duluth).  I told the nice young women that I'd had enough and wanted to cancel the project because I didn't have time to wait around for an installer who was so disrespectful of my time that they couldn't make a call to cancel the appointment. Promptly a local manager called and said he was so sorry and that it wasn't the fault of the installer and would I please reconsider and reschedule a third time, and if I did he'd provide a $100 gift card to Home Depot.  This time I didn't have to be there at start of work and could review the work the next day.  The installation did happen this time and was completed satisfactorily, the manager was there promptly the next day to collect the final payment, but I never did receive the $100 gift card. <br />"

"Jason returned our initial call within 24 hours. He performed a visit to complete an estimate quickly, the estimates provided were detailed and complete, and entailed many more projects than the two that this review covers. He returned follow-up calls and emails promptly, and provided thorough responses. He was definitely the best communicator out of any of the contractors that we contacted for these projects, most of which displayed unacceptable response times and little effort at thorough communication. Jason was surprisingly knowledgeable in regard to all aspects of our wide range of proposed projects. We only had a general idea of what we wanted on each, he spent considerable time helping us narrow it down, and made some great suggestions that we decided to go with. The work was completed as promised and entirely to our satisfaction. He showed up when he said he would, was ready to work, and completed quality work. His default estimate for the seamless gutters (162 ft) included gutter apron, which is not included by most contractors. The gutters were installed with perfect slope, and look great. He surpassed our expectations while completing the drywall job. We encountered some large holes and very shoddy patch\fill jobs that we could not see during the estimate as it was behind some OSB that was screwed to the wall. I told him not to worry about it, as I did not want to increase the expense of the job. He was sufficiently concerned about the quality and reputation of his work and the possibility of our insurance agent not accepting the existing patch jobs, that when I returned later to check up on the job he had cut out the damaged areas and installed new sheet rock as part of the agreed-upon price. Very much appreciated. My wife and I used those first, smaller jobs as a "trial run", and based on the results, will gladly be having him over to complete some larger jobs soon."

"A drunk driver crashed into our house in the middle of the night.  JBenson arrived within 2 hours of having called them for emergency board up service the next day.  They sent a crew of 4 (plus an electrician that arrived later).  After reviewing the damage, they said they could just board it up or fix the structure.  They removed all broken pieces to the structure, reframed the corner, placed sheeting and tyvek and cleaned up the glass around the site.  Their electrician (a sub) ran a dummy line through the broken outlet so that we could turn the electricity back on to that part of the house. <br /> The cost listed above is an estimate based on the 5 hours of work.  I have not yet seen the claim so I did not rate on cost. <br /> All of the team was very professional and courteous.  We are waiting for a final bid to see if they come back to finalize the work. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Moose Lake, MN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
