"We had an excellent experience with Jacuzzi! We had 2 showers and 1 bathtub, all damaged and leaking, that needed to be replaced. The installers were friendly and professional. They all did excellent work and we're very happy with the new showers and baths. We've had some bad experiences with other contractors recently, so it was very refreshing to have such a smooth and high quality experience. Thank you so much Tanner, Garrett, Andrew F, Kaden, and Armando!"

"Cayetano was such a great help! We have had a leaky shower for days now so we got around to taking time to hire a plumber and come help. Avila plumbing was here in no time fixing and getting our home back to normal! We are thankful for the work, the time and energy you put into the project. We appreciated the attention to detail and eagerness to really help us. The project was supposed to be small and quick and sure enough we have drywall coming out and Avila in the zone 4 hours in! We are thankful and definitely recommend their service. We have another project lined up as well."

"Went very well. Due to COVID 19, some suppliers were delayed in delivering required fixtures which delayed project weeks but in terms of Build the Bay, they did demo, fit tub, installed tiling, new shower and fixtures added once completed. It delayed project from 5 weeks to about 7 but not the fault of Build the Bay Inc. Build the Bay Inc. was very competitive in price, recommended some suppliers to shop materials from. Eitan was very good at communicating via phone, text and e-mail and his team was very professional, courteous, on time and did a great job. I am very pleased with the outcome of my remodeled master bath."

"Ovation Restoration just finished a complete bathroom makeover for us.  We have lived here in Cimarron for 32 years and it was time for a Master Bath upgrade.  To be honest that the project took longer than we anticipated but the work & craftsmanship exceeded expectations.  Each sub-contractor that worked on the job was an expert in their craft.  They treated it like it was their own home.  I can't say enough about the quality of the work they did for us.  The job included full demolition, new floors, new Granite counter tops, with tile back splash, a new tile shower with glass doors, new fixtures, and paint.  We talked with three contractors and chose Ovation because of their reviews, the price and the way we felt about our first meeting and interaction with Rick.  We really appreciated their input and expertise in several of the recommendations they made along the way. The entire job came in at cost with just a couple of upgrades we made.  We are 100% satisfied with the finished job"

Came and  saw work and promptly followed up with e-mailed written bid. The work area was blocked by 2 story high hedge, so I validated with Jessie (who submitted the bid) that the bid included cutting down the bush and disposing of the cut branches. Jessie responded that the bid did include this.  The bid also said that $1,000 of the cost was for painting the siding once replaced.  I countered that I would paint the siding and we agreed on a price of $6,000.  The workers came on the first day and cut down enough branches to access the house and left them in the yard. I called Jessie that day and said that I would not be able to do the painting unless the bushes were cut down. She assured me that the bushes would be cut down and removed. She later called back and said that the contractor had never said that the bushes were part of the estimate. There was some additional damage to a part of the house that required replacing some of the wood under the siding.  She then said that they would do the additional work and painting instead of cutting down the bush and the price would be $6,500. The original bid was for $7,000.

A week later the work was done when I got home from work on Friday but the bush cuttings, some wood and tar paper were still in the yard.  On Saturday afternoon I received a call while grocery shopping saying that they were going to come to the house to pick up the final payment. I explained that I was not at home and would call them when I got home.  When I got home the owner called again and said that they were coming to pick up the check.  I said that the cut bushes and refuse from the work needed to be taken away and he became irate. I had to ask him not to yell at me. He finally said he would take $2,500 now and then I could pay the last $1,000 on Monday when all the refuse had been picked up.  He even lowered the cost to $900, "because he wanted a good review on Angie's list."   The work supervisor came today, Monday, and cleaned everything up.  I paid $1,000, the final payment.

The actual work was good and the workers good, but Ofer, the owner is not professional and does not communicate well with his workers or his customers.

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Morgan Hill, CA

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
