"Excellent. Aqueduct Plumbing went above and beyond. We have multiple properties, mostly commercial and one residential. Clayton addressed each with the same level of detail, professionalism, and care. In addition, we had a daunting project that most turned their back on…Clayton came through. A+ service. A+ staff."

"Overall, very well, although it took two additional visits to first troubleshoot and then adjust the original installation of the new pump. Originally the new pump was installed with a temperature-controlled on/off switch but it turned out that that was not workable for the configuration of my plumbing. Therefore, a programmable timer had to be installed instead. This was very straightforward, simply a matter of swapping out the temperature module wired to the pump with a timer module and replacing the thermal check valve under the farthest sink left over from the non-working pump with a new one."

"I first crossed paths with Mike when he worked as the plumbing contractor for our kitchen remodel. Not only was he super friendly and professional, but he was also impressively efficient. He left his work areas spotless and delivered top-notch results. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for better. Fast forward a bit—our leaky faucets were driving us nuts. I had a couple of plumbers take a look, but they claimed both faucets needed replacing and quoted sky-high prices. I wasn’t ready to part with that much cash, so I let it slide… until the annoyance became unbearable. That's when I called Artisan (and Mike to the rescue). Mike came out, assessed the situation, and gave me the refreshing news: a repair would be much more affordable than a replacement. He ordered the necessary parts, returned, and worked his magic. One of those leaky culprits was in our garage, causing a soggy mess whenever we used the hose. Post-repair? It worked perfectly—no leaks, no mess. We’ve been loving that faucet ever since! But wait, there’s more! When one of our toilets started acting up, I turned to Mike once again. Over the phone, we discussed our choice of toilet (thanks to some research on our part), and Mike confirmed it was a high-quality option. He took care of the order, came over for the install, and got it up and running in no time. It works like a dream. Mike is a rockstar plumber, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He’s reliable, skilled, and honestly, a lifesaver when it comes to all things plumbing."

"This is the second time I've used 1st Choice Plumbing. The company is a one man operation that is run by Mr. Linneer Mabry. Mr. Mabry always gives a courtesy call. He was in the area so he called and asked if it was alright to arrive an hour early which was nice. He inspected our areas of concern, gave a quote and began the repairs and installation immediately. I was very satisfied with his work. Mr. Mabry called the next day to ensure that everything was working fine. He stands behind his work and takes no shortcuts. It's hard to find an honest plumber these days with such a hard work ethic."

"Our home and all of it's equipment was only 1 years old which was one of the pros to building to avoid any "older home" issues. Unfortunately the company that originally installed the pump and tank for the house was chosen by the builder and they were very incompetent in the installation of the equipment. (Basically we were sold the smallest size and lower grade quality tank just to squeak by county codes.) Scott was very kind, explained everything in detail (i.e. what the problems were, what the multiple options were to fix it, etc.) We immediately felt comfortable of his extensive knowledge and his willingness to help. Scott, was able to repair everything within one afternoon and made our first plumbing experience wonderful. It was such a pleasant experience (other then the unexpected large bill, no fault of theirs) we vowed we would always call them for any plumbing/heating problems, hands down!"

"Stang was an excellent company to work with and I highly recommend them. I will be using them again for the (inevitable) future plumbing needs in our old house. Firstly, John the owner was extremely knowledgeable and spent time going through the potential scope and solution to address the deteriorating water service and sewer pipes in our house. This work was a considerable investment (it took a sizeable team multiple days) and John made me very comfortable with what we were about to undertake. The team was punctual, very courteous, and focused on the job. Jason, the team member leading the sewer scope was a pleasure to work with. John and Jason were very communicative through the process and made extra effort to ensure that their activities bothered the neighbors as little as was reasonably possible. I found John and team straightforward and honest which made me comfortable with the work. They absolutely perform to the contract (appropriately so), and I recommend taking the time during the scoping/quote period to ensure that everything you want done is listed: Stang was happy to work through my questions and requested adjustments until the contract was what we all wanted. They offer a good warranty on their work: When the job was complete we noticed a slight seep from a fixture several days after everything was done. John came out right away; as I described what we were seeing while walking him in the front door he diagnosed that the team hadn’t quite tightened up one small part completely and that this would be under the warranty at no cost (He even upgraded an internal part in the fixture while fixing it, which was quite generous of him). They know their business well, they are communicative, they do excellent work, and I have high trust in the work they do."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Mount Airy, MD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
