"Flooring in kitchen and dining room looks good except they cut around flooring strips on all 4 - 2 exterior & 2 interior doors. The areas around flooring strip's look unprofessional and unfinished. These areas are already coming up. I had to buy wider door strips to cover hacked up floor areas.
My biggest complaint is my new fridge lost it's grill at the bottom and no one bothered to replace it. Not the company or the contractors.
Yes,  the work there is sub- contracted. I do not like sub-contracted work because each party blames the other and problem is never solved.
They group that  installed flooring were loud and unprofessional. I would not recommend flooring install. I am disappointed in the lack response from American Flooring, Cabinets & Granite. We called and the company was going to have sub-contractors to contact me for repair & replacement of fridge grill.
I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM EITHER!

"Fantastic. Mr Dan Parks is the best contractor I have ever hired. He is hands on and does the work himself with his trusted skilled workers. We had a basic 3 foot cube for a shower. He built a complete new 6 foot long double shower with a bench seat. All new floor to ceiling porcelain tile, with rain forest spray. New Granite counter top, back splash and shower bench seat. Beautiful job! Clean, quick, organized and far under bid competitors. Dan Parks is a great guy and a former major and minor league baseball player. He does it all and I won't use anyone else!"

"Douglas is the absolute best! He repaired the leak in the awning and then redid the sheetrock where it was damaged from water. He is so professional and the work is amazing. I cannot recommend him enough. If you need any work done, he is the first person that you should contact."

"W H Construction Now, Inc. is the only company you should ever need for ANY type of contractor work! I was looking for a reliable, honest, and knowledgeable General Contractor when I discovered William (Bill) Hodge Construction. Bill, the company owner, gave me a written quote within a few days of our very first phone call and the following day, he had workers on my roof inspecting and repairing damage. Bill and his construction crews are highly skilled, professional craftsmen and very respectful to me. The entire remodel is not completed yet, in fact, I truly believe it will be completed before the contract completion date and as budgeted even though I added more to the contract since our original signing. Some of the work Bill’s crews are doing are building new railings for my large upper deck, they are simply beautiful. Building new steps & railing for the outside stairs. Installing a security door with a keyed deadbolt accessible on each side. They are building a 9-foot long custom Island for my kitchen, installing new countertops and backsplash, and hanging pendant lights over the Island. Effectively repairing a large hole in the ground. Among some of Bill’s talents is that he has a great ability to choose matching colors, including paint and tiles. His professional painter is painting almost the entire house. Bill always keeps me updated on the project progress and always wants to be sure I’m happy with the project. I highly recommend this company and I’m so pleased and happy with their craftsmanship. I’m so happy with their craftsmanship, they are remodeling the master bathroom at another property. They have also repaired an extremely bad foundation problem at this property. Cut back tree limbs, raked leaves, pulled weeds, and hauled it away (4 truck loads)! I will definitely use W H Construction again! Why are you waiting? Call Bill !!!"

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Mount Vernon, AL

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
