"When my husband and I decided we were going to make our house our forever home we knew right away that we needed an expert to remodel it. Like many, we decided it was in our best interest to start small and within our budget. We contacted Harris Renovations and they have been with us through each of our remodeling projects since then. Three projects down with one to go and we would not use anyone other than Harris Renovations. While my husband may think there are more important items to discuss when reviewing Harris Renovation; I am going to focus on the personal care provided by Wendy and Casey. Even before our project was scheduled to begin Wendy went above and beyond to make me feel like my project was the ONLY project that mattered. When I had a question regarding anything regarding our current remodel I was able to quickly text or email Wendy and she was very quick to reply. She quickly picked up on our style and as silly as it sounds she realized the importance of accommodating our cats in our remodel. She was also able to provide excellent options for us when it came to lighting fixtures as well as recommendations on appliances and the faucet. I even went as far as getting her input on the dining room table I was searching for. Wendy is amazing to work with I guarantee she will not let you down. I truly appreciate the attention to detail provided by Casey and his crew. Casey was great about noticing things that we would have never considered. While remodeling our laundry he noticed that the pipes to the washer and dryer required repair. He made sure that we were aware of those types of issues and even replaced them. My husband was most impressed with the fact that Casey and his crew noticed a need for an external electrical outlet when remodeling our kitchen and one day we came home to find the outlet in place and ready to be used. We have one remodel project left in our house -the dreaded bathroom. We will be using Harris Renovations to complete the final project, knowing that we are in good hands. Once the house is finally complete we plan on using Harris Renovations to remodel the office of our family business."

"I did have Davis & Son repair my Heating system and they did a very good job. When I called to have them install a gas line (about 10 feet), they were going to get back to me with a quote and timeline. That was a month ago - nothing. I called and had another firm complete the work in 3 hours. Disappointed that they never called back."

"Before I called them I called All Klear plumbing , The person receiving calls is very nice and professional, but they give appointment like the cable company in 2 hrs range. They would not give me clear coast estimate, and insisted that coast would be determined when they arrive on the site. Having been familiar with this trick from another local company, I told them thanks and no thanks for wasting my time. <br /> I then called Robby Massinger Plumbing, and thank Goodness asked for coast estimate before hand. They gave me an estimate of 530$.!!! Yes that's 530$ for a toilette stall installation and water supply line plus drain line. All for an already installed sink and faucet, provided I have all supplies ready. <br /> I finally called the guys at Far better plumbing. <br /> Tommy was very professional and helpful. He spent 2 hrs and charged me for that, No travel fees, no service call. All flat labor plus material, and even better, I paid him with a credit card as soon as he handed me the invoice, rather than dealing with a mailed invoice full of surprising outrageous charges like Reeds plumbing <br />"

"The first visit was an A+! The technician was super super helpful, friendly, professional and did an amazing job. I did have to chase down HSA to get them to follow up, we wound up needing some toilets replaced. I was at work for the follow up visit and there have been zero problems since, my only issue was we have small children and the new set of toilets they installed were a few inches taller and have made potty training a little more precarious, I did wish they had contacted us about what type/size we could have had installed with in the range that our home warranty would have allowed. Out side of that one communication issue they were great!"

"A bit pricey, but very professional, rapid response, and full disclosure of costs before working. Scheduled HVAC service person because the leak was hard to pinpoint. Tech was courteous and thorough. HVAC was not the source of leak, scheduled plumbing inspection for the next day. The inspection found the leak, a flooring staple had punctured a line going in to new addition area. They gave me a report and fully disclosed the cost of repair up front and asked if I wanted them to fix it before they did the work. They also pointed out some serious deficiencies in the plumbing and HVAC installations. Several days later, Matt the plumbing specialist from All Services, went under the house with the contractor and did a complete review of the unprofessional and substandard work. They wrote up an estimate for their costs to repair problems, and the contractor agreed to fix the open sewer pipes, negative angle drains, and improper connections in the plumbing and HVAC units. Every time I called, the phone was answered by a person, even after regular business hours. They were professional and courteous every time someone came out to the house. The fact that they were willing to take the general contractor under the house and explain the deficiencies was beyond their business duties; they did not have to do that. They were willing to do the work with the contractor if he allowed them. They shared the information with me, and although the contractor used someone else, All Services maintained the courtesy and concern for my home and personal well-being."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Mount Vernon, MO

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
