"Jonathan did me real solids today. Despite the fact that they were here to clean up bascially messes left by the installers on my HVAC on both AC and furnace, he AGAN went ABOVE and BEYOND when he noticed I was doing my own plumbing project. We had hot water seeping out with our water main shut off on a fixture exchange, and he pointed out we can drain the hot water heater partially to stop this. The last plumber didn't eve care to share this, or even do it. I will not go ANY OTHER PLACE than Service Professor for my plumbing, HVAC and electrical needs. PERIOD. No one else compares!"

"Expensive $11.5K to put in a shower in place of a tub, done in one day. Asked for brushed nickel, but got chrome everything. Asked for 2 shelves but just got 1 which they say is standard. They came back next day with 2nd shelf insisting I did not order. I do not know how a family can get by with 1 little shelf for shampoos and soaps, or why one would be standard. They left wall unfinished and floor untrimmed. Minimal retrofit. It works. Plastic and chrome, but works for now. My other retrofit tub with 6 shelves cost $1750 installed labor + materials, 1/10th the price."

"Overall, it went okay. After initial consultation, we decided to only go with water softener. After softener was installed, they discovered that ALL the water would be softened. Normally, kitchen water and outdoor faucets are by passed. After further discussions, we decided to have them install a reverse osmosis system for the kitchen water. The actual installations went well (and I would rate them an 'A' for that). I rate them as a 'B' instead of an 'A' overall because they did not provide any sort of discount for the second visit / installation."

"I do not live in Michigan but do own a house there where my brother lives.  When it was reported that the furnace was not working during the recent cold spell, I immediately signed on Angie's List and found All Weather Mechanical.  Bill was wonderful.  After walking my brother through a few possible simple solutions on the phone, he went to the house that afternoon to check things out and called to gave me an estimate.  He performed the repairs the next day at the time he said he would be there.  The final cost was 10% less than the original quote.  He emailed me the invoice and I immediately sent a check from Texas and emailed him the tracking #. <br /> The fact that I was completely comfortable contacting an Angie's List provider from out of state that also is confident that I would pay him promptly after the work was done is worth it's weight in gold. <br /> I would highly recommend All Weather Mechanical to everyone.  Especially if they travel or live out-of-state for part of the year and want someone trustworthy, reliable, prompt, and fair. <br />"

"The whole removal and installation went very well. The whole job took 4 days to complete. Which I was told it would. We only have the one bathroom, and we were told we will always have a toilet. The whole staff was awesome!"

"The technician inspected the old, corroded faucets, said that he could do the work the same day. I have their maintenance contract and received a discount for the work. In multiple jobs here, Michigan Plumbing has always sent a competent and courteous technician."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Nashville, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
