We also had a Transfer Switch installed for 10 circuits for when we have a power outage. We went with a portable generator set up, rather than a dedicated generator. A portable generator provides more flexibility on the farm. The Transfer Switch installation is pretty unobtrusive and works well for us. The only complaint is that I paid a charge for an electrical permit but now, a month after the work, I still have not heard from their office on being inspected or anything else related to the permit. The work was completed immediately without a permit in hand (may be SOP, I don't know)."
