Customers say: Quality work

"One New Creation did extensive termite repair on my house, essentially replacing one full corner of my living room, top to bottom and inside and out, as well as most of the overhang of my front porch and a portion of the corner on the other side in my front office. Two other contractors and a roofer had said they repaired the damage previously, but I could tell it was still an issue. So I called One New Creation. Mario and his crew were able to start the work within a month, and it took a little over three weeks to complete. He gave me the best cost estimate he was able to, and we spoke near daily about the conditions he was finding and what he thought could be done to repair it, as well as discussing what was within budget to complete. He frequently took up-close photos and then took the time to explain to me what needed to be repaired. The crew arrived on time every day and cleaned up the site every day. I highly recommend One New Creation. They are affordable and communicative."

"Mr. Randolph has excellent communication skills to let you know what exactly I needed done. He was reasonably priced and did not take advantage of the pricing because I am a woman. He was very professional, honest and performed a clean repair."

"SUMMARY: SES did high quality work. They stuck to the projected cost. They finished within the estimated timeframe (or at least close enough). PRELIMINARY STAGES: SES promptly returned our initial call and set up a visit by their estimator. Within a very reasonable timeframe (maybe a little more than a week), we had the estimate in hand. In contrast, we were shocked to see how difficult it was to deal with some other contractors--even in the early stage, when we were trying to give them business. DETAILS OF THE JOB: They gutted ~50% of a ~180 sq ft bathroom to the studs; did some framing/re-framing; removed a large tub and patched in some hardwood; completely re-did the mortar bed/tile/plumbing for the shower; re-routed an HVAC intake to a different part of the house; moved/added some plumbing and electrical; installed a new commode and tile floor in a new toilet closet; hung crown molding; installed a double vanity with a stone top; hung a large mirror and frameless shower door; built out 2 closets. QUALITY. Their renovation was high quality and fit perfectly into our 1930’s arts-and-crafts home. They found, sanded, and painted an old 5 panel door to match the doors in rest of the house. The salvaged/refinished pine floor fits into the existing pine floor seamlessly, and the new trim work matches that in the rest of the house. Their tile guy did an outstanding job on the shower—floor to ceiling with a bullnose and a niche. The subs they used for the vanity/stone top and for the mirror/shower door did a high quality job. We designed our closets and the trim carpenter built them out perfectly (soft-close drawers and all). COMMUNICATION. This was a big asset to the SES experience. Ashley kept us posted with an email almost every day. We knew what to expect when we got home from work, as well as what to look for the next day and the rest of the week. In the rare event that there were surprises or delays, Ashley would let us know right away as well as what the resolution would be. While Ashley was the main line of communication, the owner, Shawn, was very accessible as well when necessary. PROFESSIONALISM. All the people we interacted with were professional and punctual. The workers were respectful of us and our home, and they did a great job cleaning up every day. With very few exceptions, people were at the house every weekday (and even some weekend days), from the start to the finish of the project. THE UNEXPECTED. As the work proceeded, some minor structural damage from the old shower had to be addressed and the hot water heater needed some repairs. These were taken care off in a time- and cost-efficient manner. Otherwise, there were a few miscommunications regarding the electrical rough ins, a plumbing valve, the closet build outs, and the shower door. All these were very minor and easily addressed. Along the way—and especially as things neared the end—Shawn made sure we had everything exactly the way we wanted it. This was our first time hiring a contractor. Before our renovation, we had heard many contractor-related horror stories. Our experience with SES was drastically different. We are already scheduling another project with them."

"I have rental property in New Orleans and hired Mike with RH & MS, LLC. They redid the entire house with Hardi siding, installed a new front door and framed all windows, painted, installed new lighting as well. RH & MS ( Mr Mike) conducts their business like it is a business. He does what he says he will do and what our contract says. He kept us updated on the progress at all times. We checked out all his credentials before we hired him as well. We have had them to do two jobs for us and we are pleased with the work they did. Mike is very personable and we will continue to use his services. His crew is also very knowledgeable and very nice to work with."

"Mr. Cary Bouquet of CNM Home Repairs is, by far, one of the most professional home repair providers whom I have met since my return to the Greater New Orleans area. We needed sheetrock repairs in our small guest bathroom and utility closet, as well as painting and the installation of a pedestal sink. Cary and his son completed all of the work with the utmost attention to detail and on a timely basis. In the end, we received extremely high quality home repair services for a very reasonable price (in comparison to the overly priced estimates that were provided by other companies). In my opinion, Mr. Cary Bouquet of CNM Home Repairs truly exemplifies customer service excellency and we definitely plan to utilize his services again! Thank you Cary!!!"

"Honest, professional and always promptly at work. This company has been completely remodeling our home for the last 6 months while we were living in the house. I wouldn't recommend staying in the construction zone like we did, but they were very courteous to work around us. Not a single wall of home was not addressed. Jules, Anthony and Thomas (the carpenters and the electrician) are personable and hard working. The became part of our family. Bennie and Terry (The owners/foremen) are equally nice. The one thing I didn't like was their invoicing format. That's why the 1/2 star deduction. While they only charge for work performed, the spreadsheet they use to bill the work can get very busy and confusing... especially on a job the size of ours. The did fencing, concrete work, wall removal, kitchen cabinets, bathroom remodel...anything you can think of... they did it on our home. And we love it! I can't recommend them enough."

FAQs for baseboard installation projects in New Orleans, LA

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
