"Knowing exactly the work needed to be done and paying $100 for a $711 estimate from Reimer Plumbing (Crooks in disguise) I wanted to put my foot in his, anyway. Through Angie's List I found Drain Away, Gave me a reasonable PRICE not estimate, came through promptly, Bredren knocked it out in 15 minutes. Passed their numbers off to 2 co-workers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!"

"I needed to replace my hot water heater and wanted it done ASAP. As usual, I checked reviews on Angie's List and called several area plumbers. Most could not get to me for a day or two. When I talked to Benjamin Franklin's contact person, Chris, she took my information, gave me an exact and guaranteed price quote and said someone would get there later in the day. Within 30 minutes, she called back and informed me she found a plumber who would be over within the hour. The technician, Mike S., also called to let me know he was on his way. The replacement required some creative problem-solving, and Mike S. answered the challenge in a calm and intelligent manner. He worked quickly without rushing and explained to me much of what he was doing (I tend to ask a lot of questions). All went very well, including a thorough clean-up, and a careful removal of the old heater. I found the experience as stress-free as a plumbing emergency can go. Next plumbing job I need, I'll most assuredly be calling Benjamin Franklin."

"I called Flow Rite after pulling up my Angie's List and researching all the plumbing companies and reading a lot of the reviews. After speaking to him on the phone, I was confident in my choice. Chris arrived 1/2 hour early and in no time knew the exact location of the blockage. (didn't even snake yet)(Prior to calling him, I spent hours snaking with zero progress) Chris explained everything he was doing as he did it, happily, if I might add. He cut a section out that was so packed full of YUK and cleaned the pipe very welll with a big power snake. The nastiness that came out made me wonder if this drain had EVER been cleaned since the house was built in 1935. (I've owned it for 3 years) My drains are all clear!!! I couldn't be happier with my decision to call this company. You do not need to pay outrageous money to have excellent service and quality work. Chris was very personable and clearly loves what he does. I asked him to take a look at some other drains on the other side of the house, for future updating. I will absolutely have Flow Rite complete the work. Honest and reliable. I couldn't be happier with my choice to call them. When he was finished with the work he gave me a price less than half of what I expected. Flow Rite and Chris can count on me to recommend them to all my family and friends, even strangers. You will not be disappointed with this choice. Call Chris at Flow Rite! Save yourself the stress and save a lot of money!"

"Jim responded to my intial call and came out to the house quickly and on time. He took a lot of notes, asked appropriate questions, etc. I could not be at the meeting for the estimate, but my husband was with him and tried to answer the questions. He followed up with questions in an email to me so he could come up with a more accurate estimate. It was fairly reasonable, but still higher than the other 2 estimates I received. Although we decided on another contractor, part of the decision was based on Jamcore's time line. They wouldn't be available to do the work for several months, which we knew from the beginning. However, the contractor we chose happened to have an opening very soon, which helped us in our decision."

"Did a good job unclogging my sink. Afterwards I hired Michael Evangelista to install a laundry tub. He did a poor job as sink drains came apart and he did not return to repair. I will never use Michael Evangelista again"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in New-baltimore, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
