"We called Hays Plumbing Thursday evening around 5:30. They came by Friday AM about 9:00, took measurements, returned at 1:30pm with new heater. Finished. Old water heater removed, new one installed, area cleaned extensively, and left at:30."

"Originally they thought they would have to open up the wall in our living room (we had just remodeled it a few months earlier, and did not look forward to that. However, after removing the upstairs sink/vanity and opening that area, they found a way to run the new lines without opening the living room wall. They did have to open the main floor wall behind the stove. Pete and Anthony were the two servicemen and both were very professional and friendly. It was pretty much an all day job, but the results were great with minimal tear out. Since they are plumbers, they do not do the drywall or flooring work needed to put things back.( We are using Angie's list for that also. We would definitely recommend and use Easreday again. Kudos to Pete and Anthony for a great job. BTW, they came in at the low estimate, we are happy cam pets! <br />"

"After finding water on the basement floor, I consulted Angie's List and contacted the company with the most positive scores.  An hour (or less) after my initial call, which was after hours, I had paid the service person and he was on his way.  Service Technician Darren Patrick was prompt, polite, professional, knowledgeable and quick.  He also told me how to help prevent future problems of this sort. The cost was exactly the price quoted during my initial telephone call and I thought it was reasonable, especially given the fact that it was after hours and the exceptional speed with which Mr. Patrick responded and completed his work.  I will certainly use MB Heating & Cooling from now on.  <br />"

"Well the service and repair went relatively well but the price......Yowza! We had another plumbing company come out recently because we thought it was leaking again. They did the same exact thing but only charged $70.00. Another issue we had is that we had called Jim out a few weeks before for the same problem and he said he thought the problem was the tank on the back and changed some hardware in the tank and charged $200+ for that. Then we noticed it leaking a week later and that is when we called him out again and charged us $400.00 to reset toilet. While here we asked him how much he'd charge to replace our sink disposal and he quoted my wife a price of $450.00!! We have since asked the other plumber for an estimate and they quoted us a price of $250.00. Overall I'm confident that he is a good plumber but WAAAAAY overpriced. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in New Berlin, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
