"Replacing the carpet in the bedroom areas of our home was way overdue. My husband and I stopped by Atlas Floors and were surprised they carried a very good assortment of 100% wool berber carpet at such reasonable prices. Sherry gave us a very fair estimate. Several weeks later we returned and finally made a selection. Sherry educated us about the carpet we were about to purchase and carefully went through their service contract so there would be no surprises at the point of installation. The Atlas workmen were very experienced and highly efficient in their work. They moved the heavy furniture and even re-situated it when I asked them to. I was surprised to see a foreman who later came to the house to inspect the work before the crew left! Wool seams were expertly folded where the carpet met the tile floor. I am so happy with the quality of the wool carpet, Atlas' competent salesperson, Sherry, and their experienced and professional work team. I should have done this many years ago. I would definitely consider them for another flooring job."

"PERFECTION from Start to Finish! These guys are FANTASTIC!!! I can't thank Barton Flooring enough for a job well done! Barton was recommended by one of San Antonio's most experienced, top-producing realtors. I am so pleased with the hand-scraped hardwoods and bedroom carpeting that were beautifully installed in my home. I especially appreciate the integrity, expertise and professionalism shown by the sales manager (Robert), the installation manager (Oscar) and the entire installation crew. Their product selection, pricing, installation and customer service are FANTASTIC! No hidden costs, an impeccable attention to detail and experience at its finest. Thank you again guys from your newest "customer for life"!"

"I took advantage of Pride Floors free in house consultation/estimate. The price was very competitive amongst other flooring companies I visited. I’m glad I chose Pride Floors! Mr Cavazos sent Carlos over the following day and Carlos was able to remove almost 1300 sqft by himself within a couple hours time. Very convenient. Once installed the overall workmanship really showed. No visible seams anywhere! It’s as if the carpet was placed over the subfloor in a single piece! We are truly impressed with how well it turned out. By the way, Carlos and his team of two others were able to get the install done in one day. The install also included removal and install of new tack strips. I will definitely be recommending Pride Floors!"

"Home Depot were great. They had a good selection of carpet and we got high quality carpet for a good price. They even hauled the old carpet away for us. They did a good job and we have not had any problems. There are no loose spots or runs. The insurance company handled the cost for us, although I know the price."

"We have used Couture three times to replace carpeting in our home with hardwood floors and are very satisfied.  We went to their showroom on IH 10 to view samples of flooring.  It's a really nice showroom that has extensive displays of carpeting, tile, and flooring.  They allow you to take samples home to see how they look in your home.  An employee comes to your home to accurately measure the areas to be covered (Jeb did this in our case).  He's fast and efficient.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The first time we used Couture, we were replacing a large carpeted area with hardwood.  We got estimates from three different flooring companies. The difference in price between them was less than $100.  We selected Couture based on the longevity of their flooring crews.      <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />When your wood is received at the company they will bring it to your home a day or two before installation so have a place inside your home ready for storing several boxes of wood.  This area should have the same temperature and moisture level as the area to be covered.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Couture uses two or three different subcontractor teams to install the floors.  This is not always a good thing, but Couture has used the same teams for several years so there is consistency.  Ask for David and his crew to install your floor, if possible.  He is a real artist.  He and his crew of cousins and brothers worked while growing up with their dads who own flooring businesses.  They grew up learning the business.   <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Installation time depends on the square area of the floor, but even large areas (in our case the living, dining and entry) can be completed in one day.  Occasionally, some surface leveling may be required so that material has to dry before application of the glue so installation can take a couple of days.  After installation is complete, the crew cleans everything up, helped you move the furniture in place, and hauls away the old carpet and pad.  Whomever you get to do your floors, make certain they check for and re-level  the surface, if necessary. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Couture will be our first stop in the future for any flooring needs. <br />"

"I chose Hoffman floors because of all the great reviews. When I had called, I was told the average cost to carpet a room that size was $1000. Not too bad. I should have taken more time picking out the carpet, but I just took their recommendation because I was really pressed for time. I was in Texas for a short time (I do not live in the house; it is a rental). <br /> The guy arrived promptly to measure the room. When I called to pay for the carpet, they told me the price was $1800 - a bit higher than quoted. I guess I got a higher end carpet and a nicer padding, which I did ask for... so okay. <br /> Before the installers arrived, I removed all the carpet and old padding, but I had an area, about 24 square feet, that was tiled. I had planned on renting a hammer chisel and tearing up the tile myself. Home Depot would not rent me the chisel because I have a US Virgin Islands driver's license, and they could not figure out how to put it in the system. I called Hoffman and they told me it would cost around $100 to $150 for their guys to take up the tile before installing the carpet. <br /> The guys came, tore up the tile and installed the carpet, working within my tight schedule. I was not there, but some family members were. The family complimented the on the look of the carpet and the professionalism of the installers. <br /> Fast forward a few weeks. I am back in Texas and eager to see the floor. I was shocked to see humps in a number of places where the carpet was lifting up! I called Hoffman Floors, but had to leave a message. I was told somebody would call me back. Nobody did. After three days, I called again. This time, I received a prompt callback. They quickly scheduled somebody to come fix the carpet. I once again had to leave before the carpet was repaired, but a family member took my place. <br /> But to add just another little tweak, I received a bill for the removal of the tile.... $271! <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in New Braunfels, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
