Both practices gave the impression the companies were more interested in a sales pitch than quoting a fare market value for the project. BouVaag was the only plumbing company to respond to the initial inquiry with a cost estimate. Their plumber arrived during the scheduled time window, completed the project in a timely manner, and charged within the quoted estimate. An electronic invoice was sent a week later. Prepare to pay with a check as the company charges a fee for processing debit/card payments."

"This is a terrific company.... I discovered them on Angie's List and will never use another plumbing company. I left a message via email and received a return call within hours. The estimate was accurate and price more than fair for a job that required a lot of awkward places to get into to find the real root of the problem. I've had them for repairs twice - once a section of plumbing had been incorrectly installed, and another section was leaking due to age. The repair job was quick, took my own crowded schedule into account, and all questions I asked were patiently answered with suggestions for any "next steps". I will definitely use this company again - thanks for the great work!"

The entire selection process was easy and efficient, and pricing was very reasonable. "Even though I have read some negative comments about their plumbing's prices, I wanted to give them a chance as I had a fairly good experience on the HVAC side. Unfortunately, I am afraid the comments were right! I called them for a leak in my basement related to a water drain from the second floor bathrooms. Before starting, Matt explain to me he had to go through a "pluming diagnostics" of the entire house and systems that is a flat fee of $497 (based on the age of the house) for: Unlimited Time to find the problem, One level 1 to 2 repair included with diagnostic, performance check, whole home water quality analysis, including chlorine, water hardness, and total dissolved solids, confirmation that system is safe, reliable, and energy efficient, Applies to equipment 6-20+ years old, main drain, water pressure/water temperature over 1500 sqft, tankless water heater. Basically a fee to "find the leak" and anything else that could be wrong in my house in order to give me suggestions for additional repairs that go on top of the "diagnostic fee", unless it is a level 1 or 2 repair that you probably never have anyway...! I my case Matt's listed 3 options: - $4.193 (repair copper drain, new washing machine hoses, install pressure valve and new 50 Gal water heater) - $1.467 (repair copper drain, new washing machine hoses, install pressure valve). Meaning $2.726 for the water heater alone. Or $631 (repair copper drain, new washing machine hoses). Meaning $836 for the pressure valve alone! I told him I could do the machine hoses myself and asked him how much it would be just to fix the leak => $364. That means the charge to change 2 $10 hoses is $267!! By the way, they don't deduct the $79 service call if you are not part of the Membership Program, charge an additional $14 for "Transfer Fuel Surcharge" and didn't discount the $50 coupon. Bottom line my invoice was $497 + $79 + $14 + $364 = $954. Fortunately, I talked to Kristy from Customer Service the following day and got the $50 coupon applied and got an additional $50 off after my open and direct discussion with her. Thank you Kristy. Still, I believe the all process was a bit complicated for a leak and would have to try a different plumber next time. Further more, what's going on with the "Plumbing Diagnostic" fee if they have to come again later on during the year for another issue? I surely wouldn't need another "check" of my entire house..."

"After getting a bid from Cady this summer, I hired them to do some work on my house (clean gutters, install gutter covers I'd purchased and fix a piece of siding). They agreed to do the work on September 10 at 1:00 p.m. They didn't show, and they didn't return my calls over the next couple of days. I felt they wasted my time. I gave them an F rating here and moved on to look for other handyman companies. Except that finding another company turned out to be easier said than done (the ones I contacted didn't serve my area or didn't want to do work on a 2-story house or were booked for months). A week later, my contact at Cady called to apologize. He said he'd gone out of town and the people back at the office dropped the ball. He offered to do the work for a reduced fee. I hadn't hired another company and was starting to wonder if I'd find one before winter, so I agreed to hire them. Two workers showed up as promised on September 21. They did a great job and were knowledgeable and personable. My husband and I were very happy with the work, and we would hire them again.

"I've probably said this before, but don't tell anyone how GREAT House Doctor's is! I have used House Doctor's several times in the past year and their work is always fantastic. They are meticulous and detail-oriented on every job. I recently asked Brad to install slate tile in a small half-bath. He worked through installing a level subfloor, then laid down the tile to show me how uneven it was. Thank God for Brad! :-) I immediately scrapped that plan and went with nice flat ceramic tile. That's one of the things I really appreciate about House Doctor's: they have so much experience and they are more than willing to give you their professional opinion or guidance (which, I don't know about you, but for me -- that's something I really appreciate so I don't make very expensive home remodeling mistakes.) "Our experience with Hal was wonderful.  He has fantastic design vision, attention to detail and produces high quality products for an amazing value.  We were so impressed with the work that he did. that we are already thinking of additional projects.  In addition to the larger projects, he also worked with us to complete some small maintenance projects around the yard - refurbishing some Adirondack chairs, light fixtures, etc.  Other reviewers have captured the considerations on how to best work with Hal: have a point of view, but your project will come out even more amazing if you take his design feedback into account, communicate clearly and often, but be flexible on your timeline, to account for weather and unforeseen delays.  Wonderful experience, highly recommended!"

He also checked in a few times throughout the week to see if we had any questions or had any comments for him.  Our rooms were initially dingy, outdated, and closed in; now we love being in the new updated space!  It's modern, fresh, open, and bright.
