"Mailbox painting & touchup: great result Fence repair and paint: the repair work was done correctly. The fence was painted an orange color, which is different than what I discussed with the person who provided the estimate. We discussed a stain with a subtle tint. That's not what we got. They also painted over hardware, painted a few pots, and the job is generally very sloppy. During the visit to provide the estimate, Alex told me everything would be moved and replaced. Very poor execution. Fence is painted though. House and Window washing: I believe they subbed the exterior pressure washing to a third party. They said they removed the screens (as requested) but the sills on many windows were not clean. After discussing, they said that some of the windows were inaccessible because of landscaping / fencing / roofing, etc. Again, that was not discussed during the estimating process. After offering to pay less than the estimate, they came inside the house and cleaned the window sills from the inside. That was the right thing for them to do, and I appreciate their efforts to make it right. Not going to hire them again. A bit more expensive, and quality of their work was low. I do not recommend."

"Fantastic and professional. We have a small house and lost some of our gutters to a snow storm, so we decided to renovate the rest of our gutter system while repairing the damaged sections. Working with HGE was a refreshingly positive experience. All of their team members were courteous, straightforward, and responsive. The work took two days with a weather interruption in between, but communication was prompt which let us accommodate the weather. All in all, great company. I just wish they did fencing so I could hire them again."

"Labor day weekend, this year, we were hit with a nasty hailstorm. I thought we had escaped unscathed but, then, my neighbors started saying that they needed to have their roofs replaced. That was when I, begrudgingly, figured that it was in my family's best interest to have professionals examine the roof. I hate the process of finding a contractor. Most of them, even if they respond initially, never get back to me. Perhaps it's because I'm female and they don't take me seriously (joke's on them because I execute all of the major financial decisions in my household), but I also suspect that there has been an increasing lack of integrity in the contractor profession, as a whole. Anyway, I never got this feeling from Ed Shook. He is the type of person who makes you think that he actually wants your business and wants to prove that he can do a good job. From day one, he was responsive, respectful, and fair. He responded to our first call the day that we made it, and he showed up prepared with lots of information, pictures of previous jobs, and even a list of other houses that he had worked on in the area. He was more than willing to work with what our insurance company required. Anytime that I contacted him, I could expect a response within the same day. Most importantly, he and his crew did an excellent job on our roof. It only took one day and it looks fantastic. I recommend Ed Shook Jr. Contracting with no reservations, at all. And it's nice to actually have the opportunity to finally say that about a contractor! Thank you, Ed!"

"This is a first rate company that did an awesome job on my 32 year old house. It looks brand new! They replaced some boards and painted the whole exterior which includes a front porch and sunroom. The staff were friendly and professional and I loved the ease of working with them. They were easy to contact and very accommodating to my needs. "Originally, we were scheduled to have our roof inspected on January 10, but due to an ice storm it was not actually inspected until January 24. The owner came out finding that the roof was in pretty good shape. However, some of the roof caps on the various ridge lines needed to be replaced. He also found that the sealant around the pipes coming through the roof had cracked and could be letting in water from either rain or snow. The Technician came out the next day and repaired everything. He also cleaned out the gutters which were long overdue to be cleaned."
