"The team was great and we would definitely hire them again. They refinished floors in 3 1/2 rooms plus a long hallway and added hardwood in the master, including matching up in the hallway and dining room to the living room (pictured). They gave us a few sample stains and clearcoats to consider which was thoughtful. The estimate was clear and understandable and based on experience. We ended up adding a little later and that was not a surprise. An outside contractor, Zasadni contracting, was included in the job to install new hard wood to match old hardwood and they did a fabulous job. We would definitely hire again. The job took just a little longer than expected, but we were not in a hurry and communicated that."

"Peak?s crew, Team Patrick - Benny, Johnny, Bernard, and Patrick, did an outstanding job refinishing our 85-year old oak flooring. They removed stains and deep furniture gouges and restored the floors to their former beautiful condition! We appreciate their expertise and hard work."

"JD and his brother, Gino, along with their team member, Dustin, did a beautiful job on our kitchen floor and breakfast area! They worked in an organized, neat fashion, leaving minimal dust with the sanding---due to their superior sanding/vacuuming equipment. They explained the steps in the process, fixing some unevenness in our sink area, even repairing a creak we had in our floor and replacing missing pegs. They gave us many choices of stain colors as well as variations of treatment with the final coats. They gave us clear instructions on maintenance, and they were a pleasure to be around. Well-mannered, respectful of our furnishings, reasonable in their pricing, too, we highly recommend these guys. Our kitchen floor is gorgeous!"

"Ron Urban snd his crew did a terrific job on my hardwood floors. They sanded, repaired several spots, stained, sealed and polyurethanes them. They were in on a timely manner, and melted the worksite neat. They worked on the living room, dining are, hall and two bedrooms. Their price was competitive. My floors are beautiful! I would recommend Peak Floors without hesitation."

"Anna Claudia did a wonderful job on their initial visit, cleaning multiple bathrooms and the kitchen, dusting, making beds and vacuuming the carpets. They brought all their own tools and supplies and did a thorough job. I'll definitely have them come back."

"I hired Stan to refinish my hardwood floors that probably haven't been refinished since they were installed in the 1950s. Stan was incredibly knowledgeable about the stain and finish options for my oak floors, as well as how those finishes would go with the wall color. His pricing was more than fair, and his crew was on time every day and got the job done. Now every time I open my front door and see the floors, I'm a little more giddy inside... they look absolutely gorgeous."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in New Kensington, PA

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
