"I signed up to have a modular log home built on an existing foundation. The builder had a number of specifications that needed to be met to get the foundation ready for the new house. I contacted 8 other companies, but no one could help me with my long list of tasks. When I finally got ahold of Highlander Waterproofing, I started by telling them I was a problem child. I listed all the work that needed to be done and Mike told me that nothing on my list sounded sounded scary. I got a couple of visits from Mario, the manager, and Mike, the senior engineer, and one of their senior job bosses. They were all knowledgeable, helpful, positive, and suggested that I use steel supports instead of concrete to save space. Work started in August when Dewey and JT started knocking off the top 2 courses of block. "The Gents" - Dewey (the job boss) Devon, Jimmy, Matt, and Dave - did wonderful work. Because of Murphy's Law, we had to knock some walls down and rebuild them because of bowing, and we ended up adding an internal French Drain. They set rebar, poured tons of concrete, dug footers, put up steel support beams, installed glass block windows, put down sill plates, and rebuilt the front where the garage doors will be. I cannot even begin to say how pleased I am with the work they did. And they were a lot of fun to boot! They let me video them daily, tease them mercilessly, and they had the good grace to laugh when my dog made off with their breakfast jerky. There is still some work to do when the house actually gets here in April - insulating the outside wall, backfilling, putting the sump pumps in, rebuilding the center wall, and digging footers for the porch. I have absolute confidence in Highlander Waterproofing and "The Gents." I would recommend them highly and with no reservations to anyone who needs foundation work. I will add to this post with the final pictures in April."

"The service technician listened to the entire problematic history that I have encountered since a new oil tank was installed early last Spring. He spent quite a bit of time familiarizing himself with the current layout explaining the restrictive issue that has developed, proposed a solution and the work is scheduled for the first week in November. This was the first assessment that went beyond just replacing "parts" of which I have replaced in all four pumps between both devices. Once the solution has been implemented, a second rating should be filled out. The assessment cost was reasonable especially for the amount of time the service technician spent explaining what has occurred."

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"Jim was recommended many years ago to me. He comes on call and gets the job done for whatever is necessary. He will fix and replace anything I ask of him. I live in a 8000 square foot renovated barn so I constantly have upkeep. He has also done well work for me in the past. He reconstructed a building that was about to fall to the ground. He is absolutely amazing and he is not a price gouger. I think he is a very moral guy and genuinely takes care of my needs. If he can't do something himself he will bring in the perfect guy to get the job done. He is a very good family man as well"

"It was 4 PM on a Friday night.  My husband was replacing the wax ring on a basement commode, when suddenly a pipe protruding from the wall broke off in his hands, spraying him and the entire bathroom with a shower of cold, clean (thank goodness) water.  We quickly turned off the main water supply (since the specific turn offs leading to that bathroom wouldn't BUDGE!) and got onto Angie's list.   Called the first "all A-rated" plumber/handyman, and, lucky for us, that turned out to be Darrell.  He had just finished up a long week's work, and although he had never had any dealings with us previously, agreed to rescue us from a waterless week-end. ( Remember it was late Friday, PLUS he lives in Endicott and we are located up in Chenango Bridge.) <br /> He arrived, smiling and friendly, within the hour, expertly sized up and resolved the situation, and was soon finished, much to our relief and gratitude.  As he left, we chatted about our families and got to know one another a bit.  We waved as he drove away, and almost had the urge to ask, "Who was that masked man?", the way the townsfolk always did after being rescued by the Lone Ranger. <br /> His 40-someodd years of experience certainly paid off for us, and we have already asked him to return to help us with other things around the house.  He really knows what he's doing.  We feel so grateful to have found someone who would put himself out to help strangers in need, even ON a Friday night. <br />"

"The contractor removed one tank containing filtering media the added a larger one with a media that was sufficient for the iron content that had to be removed.  He further adjusted the system and corrected the water flow and backwash cycle.   Other tanks were cleaned along with the flow valve for proper functioning. The contractor was in and out in four hours using two workers that were both polite and competent. Everything was cleaned up and was left in better shape than when they arrived. From the time they put the new system on line our water has been perfect.  We are so happy after several contractors worked on our system for 10 years and none of them has gotten it right. <br /> WE RECOMMEND THIS CONTRACTOR TO ANYONE WITH BAD DRINKING WATER!"

"First of all, the contractor's name is Tom. Jon is his son. The job went well, we think. At least so far. Since the installation of the sump pump, we've had yet another heavy rain. The pump turned on and pumped effectively for about four hours. The basement stayed dry. There are several things that impressed us about Tom. First, we called him on Friday morning right after a torrential storm and a flooded basement. He made arrangements to come to our home that Friday evening after work. He was working 1.5 hours away. He surveyed the job and then agreed to do the sump pump installation on Sunday! If he hadn't been so responsive we would have had another flood, because the next heavy rain came Monday night. <br /> Tom and his son showed up Sunday morning, as promised and worked for about seven hours. Installing a sump pump is a messy job, but we would have been almost unaware of their presence had we not also been working in the basement cleaning up from last week's storm. They carried out all the debris (stone, concrete, etc.) through a basement window and carried in their tools, supplies and the pump the same way. They showed great consideration for our house and property and made what would have been a terribly disruptive job almost painless. We'll be calling Tom for the annual maintenance check on the sump pump, as he recommends, and wouldn't hesistate to hire him and Jon for another job. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in New Milford, PA

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
