Small jobs welcome

"Mike from Apollo electric did all of the electrical work for an addition to my first home. Mike is on the job each day and is a pleasure to work with. He is knowledgeable in all phases of electrical work, as well as in general construction. This was a huge help during the construction of my home addition, as he offered excellent suggestions to move the project along in an efficient manner. Mike’s work passed Montville Township inspections with flying colors. Mike has recently installed electrical upgrades to our pool, HVAC system, and lighting in our new home. All work has proceeded smoothly. I would recommend this company to anyone."

"They came on time and replaced my rusted electric panel in about four hours, two hours less than their estimate. The electrician was very professional and respectful, and he even worked with me at the end to go through and label all the circuits. Their pricing was also much more reasonable than earlier quotes I'd received."

"Current Electric Contracting LLC was efficient and professional in their overall response to our issue. We had to have a few breakers replaced in our panel. Their pricing was fair. We will definitely keep them in our contractor database and hire them again."

Customers say: True professional

"If you're looking for an honest and knowledgeable electrician, R.A.P. Electric Company is the real deal. When my master bathroom outlets suddenly lost power, I spent hours checking breakers, outlets, and GFCIs without finding the problem. After contacting R.A.P. through Angi, I expected a service call and a bill. Instead, the electrician took the time to ask a few questions and patiently guided me through troubleshooting over the phone. He helped me locate a forgotten GFCI outlet in my basement that had tripped and was causing the problem. Once I reset it, everything worked perfectly. Many electricians could have charged me for a house call to perform a 30-second fix. Instead, R.A.P. chose honesty and customer service over making a quick dollar. That level of integrity is rare these days. I will definitely use R.A.P. Electric Company for any future electrical work and highly recommend them."

"Iâ ve been working with Henry for a few years now. He replaced and upgraded my electrical panel, installed lighting outside my home, and installed lights in my basement. He is really experienced and very easy to work with. Since I donâ t know much about the technicalities of the work, he took the time to explain to me what heâ s going to do, how and by when. He always goes above and beyond to meet the timelines he set at the onset of the project and the quality of his work is outstanding."

"I connected with Bob on the phone immediately and did not hire 3 other pros who bid on the job. Bob was very competitive. The quote had to be revised after the fact and after hanging several fixtures however, Bob was very professional handling it and was a gentleman. I trusted both Bob and Chris alone in my home and felt very comfortable doing so. Bob, Chris and their team Rob A and Rob C were perfectionists and extremely competent. The team is very pleasant, professional and easy to work with. Bob and Chris are very reliable, warm and more than competent. Bob has been doing electrical work for 35 years and is up for any challenge. I would hire them in a heartbeat to do electrical work in my house and would highly recommend them!!!!"

"Miguel was the first one to contact me from provided Angi list. Issac the electrician he sent was professional and friendly. The only issue with my project was scheduling. It started almost 2 hours later than scheduled, and I couldn't get any update during that window."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in New Vernon, NJ

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
