"William and his team did a fantastic job upgrading our meter panel. They took care of all the permits and had the job done on time and on schedule. They were extremely communicative throughout the entire process and I would use them for all electrical services in the future."

"I very rarely rate anything five stars, but Ramon truly earned it. He did exactly what we agreed to for the price we agreed to. He upgraded our panel for an extremely reasonable price. He was patient while I got estimates, provided suggestions, gave me exactly what I wanted and did it fast. I highly recommend this company."

"I hired Mitch to run power from my electrical box to an outdoor solarium. It required digging to hide the wiring under my artificial turf, running it through the yard , then into the structure. Mitch did the job perfectly. The yard looked untouched, running the power into the structure was also perfect. He did the job in exactly the time he said he would. He’s the best electrician I’ve had since we moved into our house. Don’t hesitate to call him!!"

"I got a few estimates to get more power out to my studio. Everyone quoted me about 4K to upgrade my panel and get dedicated line out to my studion. These guys were to only ones that looked for a better/more economical solution. I sent a pic of my panel and he remembered that I upgraded my kitchen a while back but noticed that my electric stove had it's own dedicated line. He asked me, did you convert to gas when you remodeled? I said yes and he said, great, we take the line that was dedicated to the stove and we use that. It saved me $1500 and it worked perfectly. I would absolutely hire again!"

"I was looking for an electrician to repair some wiring on my property and diagnose why the power was intermittently shutting off & back on throughout the house. I had a unique situation that required above-average skill & knowledge. 35 years ago, a second level was added to our house. Unknown to us, the builder used the wrong-size wiring for the outdoor electrical panel that was connected to the indoor panel. This caused intermittent electrical problems in the house as well as being a fire hazard. The cause of the problem was revealed when the wiring was exposed during a recent remodel, when the indoor panel had to be replaced due to water exposure. The bad wiring was under the house's foundation so, of course we didn't want to break up 130 feet of cement. After contacting several electricians, I was fortunate enough to have Tim Gephart look at the job. Not only was he able to re-route the proper wiring from the outside panel to the indoor panel above ground without breaking up any cement or digging, he also corrected some improper wiring in the new indoor panel. The other repair involved a bad, partially-burned breaker in the outdoor panel. Since the house was 64 years old and that breaker was no longer manufactured, that meant the possibility of having to replace the entire electrical panel - which would have cost several thousand dollars. Fortunately, Mr. Gephart had contacts with businesses that specialize in obscure electrical parts and found a breaker that he was able to custom-fit on the existing panel. The work was very professional and the cost was very reasonable. He also replaced another old breaker in the panel and repaired some lights that weren't working - at no extra charge, even though they were not part of the original contract. Seldom do I find someone who is not only honest, but takes pride in his work. We are having Mr. Gephart do other electrical work in the very near future. UPDATE: 3-16-17. Today, Mr. Gephart replaced 10 bad electrical outlets in my house. Some of the outlets had bad wiring & some had loose-fitting plugs which caused overheating. One bathroom outlet needed to be replaced with a GFCI outlet because it was a few inches away from a sink faucet. That particular outlet's opening was too small for the larger GFCI outlet. Mr. Gephart was able to chip away some of the tile without any damage to the surrounding tile so the larger outlet would fit in the opening. As always, the work was impeccable and the cost was very reasonable. UPDATE 3-30-17: I had a 40-year-old light fixture above my front door entrance. The light sockets were hanging loosely, held in only by frayed wiring & only two sockets were functioning. Tim Gephart gave me the option of rebuilding the fixture or replacing it. I chose to replace it with a new fixture. Since I am totally unfamiliar with what type of lamp would work, Mr. Gephart came to the house & advised me on a suitable fixture for that location, which was a cov"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Newbury Park, CA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
