"My wife and I are acting as general contractor to build our home on our lot. We hired Artica Construction as sub contractor to perform most all of major areas of work to build our home up through completion of shell of home. Continuing to use them for various other areas of home build such as insulation and drywall install. Artica Construction has been very accommodating and flexible to work with in all aspects. Workmanship is performed in an professional manner and expeditiously completed. This company works very well with individuals who want to be their own general contractor or they can provide full service as a general contractor and accomplish the complete build of a home on your lot if you wish."

"Mr. Turner was great to work with.....his response to give me an estimate was quick. He explained what my double drive needed and what he could do to repair it. I was very satisfied with his cost. A date was set...and he and his crew arrived and provided a quality product...complete in just a few hours. I watched after it's first rain, the water rolled off, away from my house, Perfect! I love my new driveway and highly recommend Mr. Turner and his crew."

"Just used Rich and crew for a much needed tree trimming. They did an excellent job, stayed until it was finished and the backyard was cleaned up properly. Rich kept me in the loop as the work was performed. They did exactly what we agreed upon and paid exactly what we agreed upon. I will be using them for anything else moving forward. Very personable/nice people. Already started giving out their contact info to my co-workers! Very good company."

"Awesome! Scott is an great guy that works well and did a good job on both my houses. We have prob spent $60,000 remodeling our homes. Both my homes were a bit older so they needed a lot of work done. I called around for deals and Papes charged me nearly half. If you can imagine the type of work needed for homes that were built in 1956 and 1936 than you know there was work to be done."

"I spoke with both Jerry Sutton, who is in Sevierville, and his brother Jesse, who was local to the Nashville area. Both were very professional and courteous and I felt that they dealt honestly with me. The only issue that I had was that they price that they quoted me for the work was more than double another estimate that I had received from a local contractor. To be fair to them, I believe this was entirely related to the distance involved, as Jerry would have had to bring all his equipment from Sevierville to Smyrna, and that would have increased the cost significantly. I was not initially aware of the location and that Angie's List had returned a vendor that was so far away. I do believe that if my job had been local that they would have been able to provide a more competitive estimate, and I had no other reasons not to do business with them. As I continue to live in Smyrna, my answer to to would I use them in the future had to be "No", but otherwise it would have been "Yes"."

"I will start where Don finished; he stated the least bit of dissatisfaction or concern to call him and he would be back. <br /> VERY professional; respectful of property; very neat and cleans up(even after I told I would do that); takes pride in his work and takes ownership of the work he is d***. <br /> Don came at first contact to evaluate the job; VERY honest about the scope and cost of the TOTAL job; he worked to salvage as much of the stairs as possible to re-use(only lost 3 pieces) and made sure ALL parts were OK. <br /> Arrived on time as to the stated time of arrival on both days. <br /> TREMENDOUS attention to detail. <br /> We are going to use him again for some dry wall work in the basement. <br /> I completely recommend him. <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Newport, TN

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
