"Impriano’s reps were extremely helpful in selecting replacement roofing materials to prevent a roof failure like I had just experienced. They made recommendations for what I needed and explained it in a manner I could understand which was not the case with a different roofing contractor who came to my home to estimate the job. To me, the situation was something of an emergency with winter approaching, and Impriano made scheduling of my roof a priority. Workers were very professional, punctual, and took great care not to impact the adjacent townhouse properties. Workers kept me informed of how work was progressing. They took photos at various stages so I could see the work being done; the photos of the completed job confirmed that my existing gutter guards, etc., had been secured. They were very attentive to small details. For example, they pointed out that the nails used on an existing metal cover between my house and my adjoining neighbor were silver while the cover was brown. Although the roof is 3 stories high, they decided to use brown coated nails so the nails would blend with the cover. At the completion of the job, they cleaned everything up and used a metal detector to locate errant nails on my driveway."

"A+++++ Totally recommended!!!!, Use WG Siding and Roofing you will not regret this decision! Gregory was the first of 5 contractors that I asked to quote the job. He can and did a very thorough estimate. He spent close to 45 minutes measuring, inspecting and explaining the job. He climbed onto all roofs and measured and inspected. He went inside to see the leaking areas, He went into the Attic to inspect the insulation that we had in there. Due to his thorough inspection we new that some decking would need replacement, he built a price for each sheet of plywood that would have to be replaced into the job. He fully explained everything to me and my wife, he helped us select the perfect color and shingle type to match our stone. "You always match the stone, you can paint the wood" He price was the best of the 3 prices that I got, 2 of the contractors still have not responded to quote. Once we agreed to go forward his son came over and explained the job again and took a 1/3 deposit. 2 weeks later the permit was approved and the called to schedule the install, I was leaving for California for a business trip and wanted it done before I left, they were willing to do the Job on a Saturday. During the removal of the shingles and the rotten decking, it was discovered that rafters were rotten. Gregory and his team developed a plan to fix it by removing the rotten material and nailing Sister rafters next to every single rafter on the front of the house. This was literally every single rafter. This set back his teams timeline for at least 4 hours to fix this. They did a beautiful Job with this carpentry. They replaced all the decking and put all 4 roofs on Saturday. His team was very careful to tarp and protect our things and did a very careful job. Their workmanship was second to none. They came back to do counter flashing on Sunday because it got too dark to finish that on Saturday. I was very happy with their workmanship and we happened to have a very heavy rain right after they finished. Of course there were no leaks and it was wonderful. As I waited for the bill I expected a 2K-3K price increase for all the extra carpentry work. What I got was a very fair itemized bill with $340 for the sheets of plywood as quoted, and only 580$ for fixing every single joist on the front of our roof. I can not recommend them highly enough. Great workmanship! Great cleanup! Experienced craftsman! Hard working! Friendly! Very Fair!"

"Johnathan was extremely conscientious and went to Home Depot to get a safety cover for the connection box holding the wires under the cooktop he installed. No extra charge...just safety minded. I will definitely hire him again!"

"I hired Jim to do some maintenance work on my roof which is old and in need of repair. It's a compound roof with areas of slate, copper, and old tin. All these areas have leaked in the recent past, and will eventually need to be replaced. Jim knows how to work with all these materials and found the sources for leaks that others have missed. He seems to understand how old roofs are built. We will be talking about a larger roof project in the spring. In one place I needed some custom molding and carpentry to repair storm damage and I was pleasantly surprised at how well Jim did this work. He got the custom milling done for less than I could have myself.

Jim and I are also talking about other work including carpentry, painting, drywall and bathroom remodeling. Though the work Jim has done for me so far has been mainly roof repair and handyman type small jobs, I am convinced he is a good general builder and I intend to use him again as such. I've already recommended him to my next door neighbor."

FAQs for security or storm shutters installation projects in Norristown, PA

Yes. In hurricane-prone markets, buyers and appraisers place a premium on homes that already include hurricane shutters. By adding a proven layer of storm protection, you’ll boost curb appeal, reduce future insurance claims, and give the next owner one less project to tackle—all factors that can lift your home’s resale value.

Yes, you’ll want shutters on every window. Skipping even one opening creates a weak spot that high winds or flying debris can exploit, putting the whole house at risk. Full coverage gives you consistent protection, reduces the chance of costly repairs, and can even help you qualify for insurance discounts in hurricane-prone regions.

Most insurers reward storm-ready homes. By adding hurricane shutters, you lower the risk of wind and window damage, so carriers often shave 8% to 10% off annual premiums in hurricane-prone states. Those savings stack up year after year and help offset your upfront costs, all while reducing the odds you’ll pay out of pocket for post-storm window repairs.

Aim to have your shutters installed before hurricane season, which runs from June through November. Scheduling the work in the spring gives you plenty of lead time and allows you to avoid the late-season rush. If you haven’t finished by the time a storm watch is issued, you can still install them; however, earlier preparation offers more peace of mind and smoother scheduling with local professionals.

Yes, installing both hurricane shutters and storm windows provides the highest level of protection for your home. While storm windows can withstand hurricane winds without shattering, combining them with shutters adds an extra barrier against debris. Installing both systems will increase upfront costs—storm windows average $12,000 installed—but this dual approach shields your home from wind damage and reduces repair expenses after severe weather.

The main disadvantage of hurricane shutters is their cost, as they represent a significant upfront investment compared to other storm protection options. Another disadvantage is that some shutter styles require manual operation from the outside, which can present challenges for individuals with mobility issues. Additionally, shutters require regular maintenance, such as lubricating tracks and inspecting fasteners, to ensure they function correctly. Neglecting upkeep can lead to corrosion or damage, reducing their effectiveness when you need them most.
