Small jobs welcome

"Anthony and his team at Reliable Hardwood Flooring refinished all the wood floors in our new home before we moved in. Three coats of Nordic sealer (to help lighten the wood) and two coats of a comm. matt polyurethane. They are absolutely stunning, and we have had several compliments from friends! Anthony and his team worked with a sense of urgency, showed total professionalism and stand by their work. They possess incredible work ethic and do everything in their power to make sure that the customer is totally satisfied. They have nothing but complete respect for their customers. With our floors, there were several damaged areas that they went above and beyond to fix, and the floors look like the damage was never there! We highly recommend Reliable Hardwood Flooring! They are the best! Great pricing, too!"

"Fast, reliable, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Great prices. Very fair. I had major flooding in my house. I have all wood flooring. They replaced the damaged flooring, then sanded and polished everything. The floors came out amazing! Better than I could have imagined. Just gorgeous. If you need any kind of flooring done, call these people. You won't regret it. Craig"

"This crew did a great job repairing my deck, jacking and leveling my addition, building a new retaining wall to support the addition as well as new cedar shingle siding. They are hard working and skilled as well as polite and honest. I will be happy to hire Nate and his crew to do more projects in the future."

"Actually Excellent would be the word - John Abrams refinished our existing hardwood floors on the second story of our garrison home. They had been covered with carpet for 20 years and were "orange" in color. John was here for two days and the result is the most beautiful flooring we could ever have imagined. He went above and beyond with repairs to those floors and even corrected a huge goof in our living room (made by another flooring company who used the wrong color oak for replacement boards). John and his employee were both a pleasure to have working in our home. There was minimal dust when the job was complete and we would recommend Abrams Flooring to ANYONE! Thank you John! FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in North-Turner, ME

The hardest wood floor finish is aluminum oxide, but it only comes on prefinished boards. If you want something durable you can add after installation, acid-cured is your best bet. Moisture-cured urethane is the most durable finish for homes with pets. However, It contains a lot of (VOCs) that can aggravate pets and people, especially at first. If you’re looking for a low-VOC alternative, water-based polyurethane is your best bet.

Bona sells several highly-rated polyurethane hardwood floor finish products, typically through small, local distributors. Brands like DuraSeal or Minwax also rank well for durability and ease of application. They are available at businesses such as Walmart and Amazon.

You have to seal unfinished hardwood floors to protect them from scratches and stains. The frequency depends on the type, but in general it’s ideal to refinish them between four and six times in their lifetime. This comes out to about every seven to 10 years.

Refinishing hardwood floors costs $1,100 to $2,400.

Wood stain adds a color to the surface. A finish adds a level of shine (e.g. matte, low-gloss, high-gloss) and seals the grain to protect against damage. Some companies, such as Minwax, offer products that do both at once.
