"They were great.  They came after two other plumbers never returned my calls.  He located the leak behind some sheet rock and repaired it quickly.  When my wife mentioned that we also heard some gurgling in one of the pipes, he offered to check out the problem.  He also located the blocked pipe in the basement and unclogged it.  We would definitely use this company again and recommend it to friends and neighbors. <br />"

"Above and beyond. A master shower leak was discovered on a Friday afternoon but it wasn't plumbing - so I had to fine a 'tile person' so I asked around and then went looking on line and found S&W Tile, a small local business. I filled in the online form and by 7:30 Saturday morning Wes was on the phone and out at my house before noon with a plan, a timeline and I was in. A week later he and is trusty young colleague Ryan were on the job, on time, on schedule and more to install a complete Schluter Shower system. What's that, right? Well, waterproof for one thing! And when the Schluter rep heard my heated bathroom floor didn't seem to work, he drove over to check it and now it works. Every little detail was meticulous, and they are super nice, respectful and I would recommend them and hire them again in a heart beat. Oh, and one more thing. I was thinking about tiling my other bathroom floor and my front hall, but after checking it out, we decided against it - and Wes helped me make that decision because he was so clear about the process and potential issues that I decided to hold off when he could have easily not told me any of it and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Integrity means a lot."

"When I had a water leak in my cellar they responded immediately.  Apparently new pipe had been attached to an old pipe and water was slowly flowing backwards. They took out the old pipe and replaced with new copper piping. Giving me a complete explanation of the problem. <br /> In an upstairs bathroom, it became quite difficult to shut off the water to the tub. Their fix has worked for several years, but now I plan to update the bathroom fixtures and tiles. I am just in the exploratory stage. <br /> They have also fixed an outside faucet by lengthening a pipe at an right angle (L)  which previously had an outlet practically in soil.  Now I don't have to get on my knees to connect a hose. I have used their service for many years and will continue to do so. <br />"

"Excellent plumber! After two calls to other plumbers where one said it would take at least a week and the other one didn't even return my call (they both had answering machines), I searched Angie's list and found Peabody in my town. I called on Monday morning and got an answering SERVICE -- a live voice! I received a return call within a 1/2 hour. They came out that afternoon and did a great job. Very pleased with the result and he will definitely be my "go-to" plumber in the future, and I will highly recommend Shawn to any of my friends who ever need a plumber."

"Lou and team did an amazing job on our bathroom remodel. Price was very competitive; and the final result was wonderful. Lou made some great recommendations on products/vendors and we ended up with a high quality, beautiful bathroom! We had a few hiccups along the way, but the team responded in a timely manner and took great care in their work. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others."

"My home had a small mudroom which had been added on to the rear wall some time ago. The posts supporting it had become unstable and it began to separate from the main house. It required demolition and replacement. Lorenzo and his crew got started quickly, arranging for disposal and town inspections. The materials purchased were high quality and I was always kept informed of the job progress. I am very pleased with the result, it is a big improvement from the original structure. I will definitely be calling Lorenzo in the future."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in North Amherst, MA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
