"I met Al Guevara when my wife and I were dealing with a very stressful home ownership related event. A few days prior to Alâ s arrival, a tree had fallen on our roof and rolled onto the deck. There were five different puncture holes straight through and on into our attic. A temporary repair was made the next day. However, a long-term solution was required. I called our previous roofing contractor and was told he had shut down the operation until Spring, 2024. My wife researched and came up with a short list of the highest rated, well reviewed local roofing companies. MGS Construction was at the top of her list so I started there. Another call would not be necessary. Al visited us the day I made the call and by the end of his visit we signed his proposal/estimate. A complete roof replacement (GAF Timberline HDZ shingles, ice and water shield, caps, ridge vents, flashing, etc.) â along with a new 40â seamless gutter â was scheduled with work to begin in one week! And no deposit was required. It snowed the evening prior to the (large) crewâ s arrival and it had no impact on the project. The crew used leaf blowers to remove snow from the roof! I met the foreman, Josh, the morning that the work began. In addition to overseeing the many goings on with the well-oiled machine of a crew, Josh took the time and had the patience to answer questions I had during the course of the day. And believe me, there were more than a few! Clean-up was very thorough. MGS will be returning in the spring to repair the damage the tree did to our deck and to do work on the exterior of our home unrelated to the tree damage."

"Aram came out to look at the roof and immediately made a repair of the leaks. He took photos and made recommendations. I told him that we'd need a second estimate. Ranch's estimate was less expensive and had an optional repair on a side piece of the roofing that the other firm did not notice. The work was done well with a lot of thoughtfulness concerning the placement of a dumpster given a tight drive way. We could not be more pleased by the quality of the job and the attentiveness to our needs."

"I have an interlocking shingle metal roof that needed a new vent pipe boot put on it by someone specially trained to work on this kind of roof. After other roofers had previously come by only to say they were not able to work on this kind of roof, Anthony and Aaron from Tar Star came by within an hour of my request for an estimate. They quoted me a fair price (better than other quotes I got) and best of all, they knew what they were doing and special ordered the right boot and put it on the very next morning. "Hugo, the owner, was very accommodating. I had a badly leaking flat roof, which is a small section of my entire asphalt, gabled roof. I called many roofers to get an estimate for a repair rather than a full roof replacement--since I could not afford the cost of an entire roof replacement at that time. All other contractors/roofers only wanted the larger job of a full roof replacement--which I could not do at that time. Although a complete roof replacement would have been ideal, Hugo understood my situation and agreed to do just the flat roof repair, which included replacing the rubber roof. He came to my home that same day and gave me a reasonable estimate. Even though he was in the middle of a large, complete home renovation project, he scheduled my repair two days later in the morning and finished the job by noon. Hugo is a fair and honest professional contractor. His expertise extends to all areas of home construction. Attention to detail and customer complete satisfaction are priorities. "Initially they were responsive and got to the job quickly. They started one day later than their initial estimate and finished the job in a day and a half. The roof has gone through the Arthur downpour with no apparent leaks.
The cleanup wasn't perfect, as there were small pieces of old roofing and cellophane strips left on the ground. In a couple of places where the roof changed direction the shingles didn't conform fully to the shape leaving some gaps. Also, when they reflashed around the chimney they put the new flashing one course above the old flashing, rather than digging out the old flashing and inserting the new material in the same place.
When I called about the issues they were pleasant, but it took a few weeks for a representative to come out and review things, and then three more weeks for them to come to resolve the first two issues. The flashing is just the way they do things and is OK.
