Small jobs welcome

"JJ Sousa is my trusted mason for any all indoor/outdoor work. They can do so much more than just masonry as well! Recently they came up with a great design for a 40â granite outdoor staircase and a large outdoor patio with natural earth stones. They also solved a lot of drainage/flooding issues I was having! I highly recommend them for your next job. They go above and beyond for their customers!"

"The reason why we did not give 5 stars for this project: 1. The project materials deposited on our neighbors backyard. It took a long time to get someone from the company to come to move it to our lot. Still, he left some of it and we had to move it ourselves. 2. Despite our requests to start the noisy work at 8AM the work always started at 7:30AM. 3. The brick part of the porch was supposed to be pointed the project manager asked us to agree to remove the low brick wall and wanted to charge us $8K for it while pointing is more work intensive than removing the bricks. At the end he lowered the price but did not do the pointing on the remainder of the bricks that left in the supporting columns. We had to hire someone to do it and it cost us extra $950. 4. When the trash container removed from our backyard, we left with a lot of debris and again we needed to clean it ourselves."

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"The brick chimney on my 55-year-old house had missing and loose bricks, crumbling mortar, and severe staining. Also, when the house was reroofed five years ago, the roofers did not do a proper job of installing flashing against the chimney. I first contacted Dave Robinson mid-summer, and he came out to examine the project. Initially he thought he could get to it in late August but he then said it would be sometime in October. As it wasn't an emergency (I had, after all, been living with this for years), that was OK with me. Dave and his crew arrived in early October and, over two days, did a great job repairing the chimney, reinstalling the flashing properly (so that the top of the flashing was embedded in the mortar, and then sealed it all with a breathing sealer. Perhaps my only gripe was that communication was intermittent, especially by email, but he did respond and did the work he quoted for the agreed-upon price. I have attached before and after photos. I'm very happy with his work and plan to call on Dave again when I am ready to install a fireplace insert (as the interior of the chimney needs work.)"

"Steve Key and his son Zach did an awesome job on our patio. They tore out the fence surrounding an enclosed patio and replaced the tiles with beautiful designer stones and open the entire area up to the back yard. What impressed me most was the prep work to make sure that there would be no "frost heaves" common in New England. <br /> It should also be noted that they worked closely with another contractor that built a pergola on the patio that Key Landscaping created. All contractors worked together as a team and the project went without a hitch! I only wish that Angies List would allow me to display a before/after photo because the results are nothing short of amazing! <br /> After all the work was completed I refinanced the house and had it appraised. The bank appraiser raved about our patio. She said she has not seen anything like it before and commented that it was like adding an additional room to our house. She said it positively affected the value of our house. <br /> I would definitely recommend Key Landscaping for patios or other jobs that requires detailed work. They did a great job!!! <br />"

"I had hired Rotten Rock a few winters ago for tree service. I had nearly a dozen very large pine trees that were very tall and within falling distance of my house. At first I was overwhelmed by the thought of any tree professional tackling this job, but then I met Henry and his crew. The job was completed much to my satisfaction, and I was impressed with the level of safety and efficiency. Just recently, my water supply line from my 100 year old shallow dug well to pump (in house) began to fail. No wanting to waste any time nor chance, again I called Rotten Rock. Within 36 hours Henry arrived with his machine and new water line.....and by Noon the job was done....Wow! Thanks Henry & Todd! -Michelle in Madison <br />"

"It went very well. I am extremely pleased with the results! Everything was perfectly cleaned up when the crew left. Steve was there the whole time supervising and working himself. Communication with Steve is very easy as he responds to emails and phone calls quickly. <br />"

"For safety reasons we had a stone wall built around a deep catch basin and along our driveway ditch. Chris Burke came promptly when expected to discuss the project with myself and my neighbor. He gave a us great suggestions and listened to us. We approved the estimate only a few days later. Chris showed up when expected and if there were any hitches to the schedule he quickly informed us. He and Mark were great workers and are amazingly strong men. Chris would always ask if the project was coming along the way we expected and if any new decisions had to be made. They would inform me of the proper way a stone wall should be built for durability as opposed to others short cuts that don't last. When the job was finished they left a clean work site and a beautiful wall that looked as though it had always been there. The whole project was a complete success in every way. We love our wall and are going to hire Chris again to continue the stone wall on our property. I would highly recommend Christopher Burke and Mark. They are skilled craftsmen and proud of their impeccable work. I recommend looking at their work on line at www.chrisburkestone.com They are also a lot of fun too. My neighbor and my family have a beautiful stone wall that we will enjoy for generations."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in North Conway, NH

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
