"<p>The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process.  He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately.  Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.  </p> <p>The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them.   An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process.  They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane.  Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation.  He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925).  This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.</p> <p>Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever.  We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough.  I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work.  I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.</p> <br />"

"It went well. It was good. There was a mix-up in the initial order. They cleaned up after themselves. When they came to the house, they were very professional at the house, left the samples and gave us good feedback on types of flooring and things like that. So they were very helpful in making the decision."

"Drywall subcontractor was Blue Dolphin.  He was excellent and prepared everything for painting.    <br /> Problem arose when repair of the drywall seams extended into the surrounding walls and called for extra painting to be done.   I would have paid extra for the additional work but was told I wouldn't be charged for it. <br /> Real problem was bid included painting a small ceiling downstairs.  It was included in the contract.  There were 2 small stains on the ceiling.  I asked if those could be primed and matched, but contractor said better to paint the whole ceiling which I agreed to and again which was included in contract.    They double primed the stains downstairs and started work upstairs. <br /> When the painters finished upstairs I asked about downstairs ceiling and they called contractor who said that wasn't part of the deal which was simply not true.  He may have forgotten about it,  but it was in the contract.  Plus they had started the job by priming the stains.  Then Contractor got a little huffy on the phone  saying "this is how its going to be, if you want the downstairs ceiling done it will be another $300.00."  His attitude was very disappointing.  So I ended up paying another 300.00, but I didn't pay extra for the additional upstairs painting so it wasn't something I was going to make an issue about.  However, when General Contractor didn't live up to his written contract, then that's a problem people should know about.    Blue Dolphin drywall (his subcontractor) was great though and I would recommend him for drywall repair.  The painting crew was average and missed a few areas that had to be redone. <br />"

"John and his team did our driveway and it looks fantastic.  No more cracked concrete!  Our large front porch was covered in astroturf (we didn't do it!) and now it's been transformed into the "grand flagstone" design.  It looks incredible and I have no doubt that we have added to the value of our home enough to instantly exceed the cost, which was very reasonable.  He also did a smaller concrete pad on our back patio and that too looks great.  Lastly, they power washed our sidewalk and applied a product that seals it and protects it from the weather, salt, etc.  Our neighbors immediately had him do the same to their sidewalk.  The difference is amazing.  As you can tell by now, I highly recommend John and his team."

"We live on a steep hill and wanted to create a level space to enjoy the back yard. We had to take into consideration large trees, drainage and the hill grade. Shane did a great job of working with us to create the plan and adjusted based on our input and the project constraints. Their team was professional and we are pleased with the end result. We now have a usable back yard! <br />"

"I have used this company for two different industrial supply companies that I have worked for. I have been pleased with their work, their response time, and trust to leave them in an unoccupied store while they work. They will come and do the floors when it is convenient for the business, not when it is convenient for them. They always have a high quality of work and you will be pleased with the results. Mr. William Jackson is very polite and professional and truly concerned on the results of every project. <br />"

FAQs for concrete floor coating apply projects in North East, MD

Epoxy flooring is a two-part coating made from synthetic resins and a hardener that bonds to concrete to create a continuous, durable surface. Once cured, the coating resists impacts, moisture, and most household chemicals, making it a practical choice for garages, basements, and workshops. It also creates a uniform, easy-to-clean finish that looks more polished than bare concrete without requiring ongoing waxes or sealers.

With proper care and maintenance, solvent-based and solid residential epoxy flooring can last 10 to 20 years, while water-based epoxy flooring lasts three to five years. Water-based epoxy is less durable, making it more susceptible to regular wear and tear. Commercial epoxy concrete flooring that experiences heavy foot traffic may only last two to three years.

Maintaining epoxy garage floors is relatively easy. You can sweep up dirt and debris with a broom, dustpan, or vacuum cleaner, then use a mild cleaning solution intended for epoxy floors to scrub away stains. Avoid using soap-based or chemical cleaners. Mopping an epoxy garage floor regularly with warm water can do the trick.
