"Matt has done multiple projects for me, including kitchen cabinet refacing, applying new kitchen tile, kitchen floor and all new inside doors. Everything was done timely and with excellence. Matt gave me an estimate and stayed within budget. He arrives on time and cleans up as he works. He is very polite and takes the time to answer questions completely. While he was here for my door replacement, I asked him if he could install a flag on my house, that would require a base built where it attached to the house. He completed it by improvising a beautiful custom wood mount for the flag. I highly recommend Matt for any project you may have. "

"I have never seen craftsman as meticulous and tidy as the crew who did our cabinet refacing. And, they completed a job scheduled for a week in 3 and a half days. I am stunned every time I walk into my kitchen now. It looks like something out of a magazine. It is light and bright and looks much larger now that I went with white cabinets."

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Kitchen Magic sent a salesperson, then an engineer, and finally the contractor-Will. Stephanie kept in contact before, during, and after my project was complete. They were very clear about the refacing procedure and it turned out beautifully. I got 2 other quotes from reputable companies and they charged thousands more for less services- like new drawer boxes that soft close and matching kick plates. Kitchen Magic is definitely the best and most cost effective in the industry."

"The work couldn't have gone more smoothly, and everything came out perfectly. The two individuals who were assigned to the job showed up at the agreed-upon time and took only two days to complete it. They were a pleasure to deal with--polite, competent, and efficient, as well as helpful whenever we had questions or solicited their suggestions. Both days they cleaned the place up before they left."

"We just finished our kitchen makeover with Kitchen Counsel. We couldn't be happier with the outcome! It looks fantastic. From the initial visit to give us a quote to his final finishing details, Mike Talmadge was thorough, responsive and easy to work with. We obtained three quotes and Mike's price was very competitive. However, his standard of quality was very high. We love the cabinets and his suggested storage ideas have really made our kitchen seem bigger. This being our first redo, we were a little afraid of taking on such a huge project, but Mike guided us through the process and worked with our flooring contractor to make it a seamless transition. He and his workmen cleaned up each day so we weren't greeted with a big mess. Whenever we had a question or concern, Mike was speedy in responding and worked to make it right. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his team for any kitchen makeover. You won't regret it!"

"They had a deal going on. They were great. Everybody was an A. The sales person thru the customer support thru the people that showed up, and the product itself. Beautiful, beautiful job.

I was surprised that it only took 2 days. They came in one day and they do measurements. It only took them 2 days to actually do the refacing. They cleaned every night when they left, it was beautiful. Also, I changed my mind on what I was gonna use for the knobs. They put some of them in and I said no I want the handles, and they actually had some in the truck. And then they had them mail me the rest for free. I know the handles had to cost more than the knobs but they didn't charge me any more.

They did have to come back one more day, because of the change of the handles, they needed input from me on where I wanted the handles."

"Installation was great. No problems since we had them installed, a few years ago. Shelves are much easier to access. We also had Shelf Genie install shelves in our Florida home. Installer noticed that we needed a panel on the end of our kitchen island, and he did that also."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in North Granby, CT

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
