"For a long time I was choosing a business to implement my project. (Removal of old damaged asphalt pavement and installation of new concrete pavement. Driveways and walkways for my home. I chose the business Kayan LLC. I had the estimate of the work on hand the next day. Attractive price of the work. Short terms of work. Good quality with a subsequent guarantee."

"Communication with AJ at PVP was exceptional. Unfortunately, weather delayed the job several times, but AJ kept in contact with me almost daily with updates and the job was completed as soon as the weather cleared. The finished product was outstanding. It was beyond my expectations. PVP also placed seeded loam around the area disturbed by the work. I would definitely recommend PVP for paving and concrete work."

"Once again, Patric and his crew did outstanding work for us, installed a beautiful stamped concrete patio. Start to finish 4 days. Second project we have hired him for, (first one was a lovely stamped concrete driveway)surpassed our expectations once again. Great job, Patric. Would recommend this company to everyone. "It was a good experience. They did a good job and the driveway looks great. I'm hoping it lasts a long time and we will see over time. Ron was very nice to work with and was the first person I spoke to. The office staff was very respectful when I called. The work had to be postponed due to rain and there was a little lack of communication going back and forth during that time. When they initially tore out the old driveway and leveled it, they said they waited 3 weeks to do the new paving to allow it to settle. It ended up being 5 weeks in between these two steps due to the weather."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in North Granby, CT

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
